Sincere Friendship

What are Pi Phi's symbols and colors?

Our official symbol is the golden arrow, it points our way home <3. Our unofficial symbol is the angel. Our colors are wine and silver-blue, and our official flower is the wine carnation.

What are sisterhoods?

Our chapter has events spreadout through the quarter where sisters can get together and hang out! It helps us take some time to get to know one another better and take a break. Sisterhoods are usually subsidized, and some of my favorites are..... (ex: Med milkshakes, barre classes, kickboxing, dress swaps, self care nights, painting classes, etc)

100

What frats do you hang out with?

Can be tricky since we can't talk about the 3 D's: dudes, drinking, dr*gz. Have an honest conversation about our philanthropy events and collaborative efforts to help our community: Pi in the Phace, Arrowfest, Derby Days, etc.

200

How much are dues?

New Member Dues are $438. During Covid we have normal member dues as $240  and remote members are $135.

200

Staying connected through a pandemic

We've had regular virtual chapter meetings to check in as a group, as well as virtual sisterhood like baking over zoom, amongst us rounds and painting classes.

200

What can you NOT talk about?

Do NOT bash other sororities, talk about ritual, talk about drinking, parties, droogs, etc. Recruitment is a cleaned up version of Greek Life, be mindful (but still honest!) about what you tell a PNM.

300

What is your philanthropy mission?

Our mission is to increase child literacy rates, currently we donate books to local schools and offering tutoring sessions. We also fundraise and donate money to the national Pi Beta Phi Literacy Fund. Our chapter has actually gained recognition for being a leading donor!

300

What are some of your favorite events?

Remember the 3 D's. Focus on only on authentic, positive, wholesome events like volunteering opportunities, fundraisers, sisterhood, and of course Arrowfest!

300

Uninterested PNM

Try to tell her your "why pi phi" story. If that doesn't hook her, you can just sit in silence :)

400

How you handle your other commitments?

We value Intellectual Growth, so we make sure our members feel supported academically (study rooms, A's party, group chats for psets, etc). We have a variety of events scheduled throughout the quarter, so if you can't make it one week you can always make the next event! We try to be very flexible and understanding, and the proof is in the wide variety of RSO's and activities our fellow sisters are in!

400

What is it like being a New Member?

Talk about pink parties, big little week, bid days ,etc. Emphasize on feeling welcomed and meeting so many new people. You can also mention new member training that helps you understand and learn more about our chapter.

400

Rude PNM or making you uncomfortable

Call an exec member in (Pres, VP, Mads, me, etc)! We value your feelings and security and want to help whenever we can!

500

What has Pi Phi done for diversity and inclusion?

Make sure we have ways for members to give feedback and talk about sensitive subjects (Dear Exec, LDC meetings, Office Hours). Also try to raise our self-awareness and work to support efforts outside of our philanthropy efforts, such as BLM fundraising and making sure our sisters feel heard.

500

Why did you choose pi phi?

Be mindful not to unintentionally bash other srats! Focus on creating a short story that shows why you felt welcomed and connected to our chapter <3. Focus on bringing in our values, philanthropy, whatever spoke to you. Be PI PHI specific, not just greek life.

500

Will I be getting a bid?

Mention how the process focuses on making sure the PNM experiences all four sororities and how panhel does their best job to make sure every PNM finds their right fit. DO NOT GUARANTEE A GIRL SHE IS COMING BACK OR GETTING A BID! OR THAT SHE IS GETTING DROPPED EITHER!
