This orange form is used when a course is not offered or is unavailable to a student due to a conflict. It must include a syllabus and be filled out completely when turned in. The course comes with a $125 per credit fee.
What is a Directed Study form?
Courses can be marked Present, Absent, Tardy, or this status which is never to be used at Maranatha.
What is Excused?
This number represents the minimum number of credit hours a student must earn to complete a Bachelor's degree at Maranatha.
What is 128?
Students completing their program must submit one of these in order to get on the graduate candidates list. The link to submit it is found on MyMBU.
What is the Graduation Application?
Students occasionally disagree with the application of Academic policies. Appeals should be submitted to this office in written form, preferably as an email, in order to begin the appeal process.
What is the Registrar's Office?
Non-traditional coursework that applies to a student's bill requires a form to be submitted to the Registrar's Office. The form must be accepted by this time in order to be processed correctly.
What is the last day of Drop/Add week, the semester the coursework is applied?
If a student is ill or on a school-sponsored trip, they can use this modality to view an ongoing course session if it is made available by the instructor. This does not count as attendance and the student should be marked absent.
What is Virtual Modality?
If a course is shared by a Major and a Minor, the Minor must have this many credits of unique coursework in order to be complete.
What is 18?
Those who are considering continuing their studies at Maranatha need to submit an Intent to Enroll application on MBU.edu/apply and select the option for "Current Students" on the application drop-down list in the final semester of their current program. A current student would also submit an Intent to Enroll to pursue this.
What is a BA to MA Pathway?
In order to have a pre-requisite waived, this person must contact the Registrar's Office with their approval. The Registrar's Office will direct students to contact this person if a waiver is requested.
Who is the Instructor?
This form is located in the Registrar's Office (and on MyMBU) and is used when a main campus student wants to take an online course. This typically comes with a $100 per credit fee.
What is the Online Participation Form?
Students are granted cuts based on the number of times a course meets. A student who achieves placement on these two lists is granted 3 weeks of cuts.
What are the Dean's and President's Lists?
20th Century History is not an elective class for this Liberal Arts Core category.
What is American Studies?
Participation in commencement is for students who have completed all of the requirements for the program of study they have declared or who have one of these, approved by the Registrar and Academic Dean. These typically involve 6 or fewer credits in the upcoming Summer.
What is a Reasonable Plan?
Academic Departments looking to tweak their programs must submit these to the Registrar's Office for review before they are considered by the Academic Committee. These are found on MyMBU.
What are the Academic Committee Forms?
In order for a form to be accepted by the Registrar's Office, it must have all of these - in most cases located at the bottom of the form.
What are Signatures?
Students have until the end of the next semester to appeal overcut decisions. This committee meets to discuss occasions when students exceed their allowance by 3 or more cuts.
This law, known by its acronym, protects students' academic, disciplinary, and financial data. A record is stored in the system for who has been granted access, and any inquiries or concerns should be directed to the Registrar's Office.
What is FERPA?
Due to timing restraints, these are not present at the graduation ceremony but instead will be mailed out in the first few weeks of June (or January, or October) to those who have earned them.
What are diplomas?
Sometimes, a student needs to use a substitute course to complete a program. This person is responsible to approve all substitutes for programs they are responsible for. The Registrar's Office will direct requests from students and advisors to this person.
Who is the Department Head/Academic Unit Leader?
This form is yellow and students use it to appeal overcut courses. It has signature lines, but they are not required for submission. Students often email copies of this form to the Registrar's Office.
What is the Restoration of Credit form?
A student arriving more than 15 minutes late to class is to be marked absent. Should they arrive between 1 and 15 minutes late, they should be marked this.
What is Tardy?
Standardized testing allows students to demonstrate proficiency in a skill and waive remedial and preliminary coursework. This course, if waived, needs to be replaced if waiving it will take the total number of credits earned in the program below the minimum requirement.
What is English Composition 1?
Instead of using Jenzabar's Degree Audit forms to confirm program requirements and student progress, the Registrar's Office maintains these on the M Drive where Advisors can access them and work with their advisees.
