*During Eliza's presidency (1868-1887). The RS sent women to medical school to become doctors, nurses and midwives. Upon their return, these women shared their knowledge and experience with others.

* Eliza also served as Deseret Hospital’s first president.

The Legacy RSP is a convert to the church, Her and her Hubby lived in a cul-de-sac, where there was an abandon house that sat for many years.  It was purchased, fixed up to use as a rental property.  In her words, "Heavenly Father sent Angels to Rent the house.  They soon became our best friends and eventually converted us."

What is the Sego Lily/Wheat Sheaf? (The sego lily was selected because of its usefulness in sustaining life along pioneer settlements. It is an appropriate symbol of purity, beauty, patience through winter and darkness, and storing of strength for the time of blossoming. The wheat sheaf has been used as an emblem along with the sego lily, symbolizing storing of grain against time of need.)

In 1918 (WWI time) the President of the US, Heber Hoover, wrote a letter of appreciation to the church for this.

 *All of the wheat and flour donated was gathered and paid for by the Relief Society. The US government later paid the church $1.20 for each bushel donated which was estimated at 205,528 bushels. The money received was invested as a trust fund made available for charitable puposes for the poor of the church.

This Legacy RSP, was a witness to a robbery in Chicago when she was 10 years old.  On a warm summer evening this RS had ridden her "cool" new bicycle with the High Handlebars and Banana seat to a local restaurant to buy the early edition Sunday newspaper for her dad.  The masked gunmen came running out just as she was putting her coins into the newspaper box.
