Extra Points for anyone who said ALL!
You are in the middle of a new zoom lesson when you notice a student with their head down and disengaged. When you check in with them privately, they share that they started crying in the middle of the lesson. You try to talk to them but they stop answering and you have to go back to the rest of the zoom class. After class you check-in with the student and they tell you that they have been feeling overwhelmed and worried because their guardian is an essential worker.

Martha Diamond and Sarah Clore!
Your zoom class is right after the scheduled break for students, which makes it a bit chaotic and tends to take students a bit longer to settle into class. However, there is one particular student that is always doing the most. They often call out and will almost consistently disrupt the class outwardly. You have had many conversations with this student and have even reached out to the family but nothing seems to be changing. In fact it’s getting worse. You fear that your relationship with the student is being affected but feel at a loss since you have the rest of the class to manage.
None. This is a classroom management scenario and should be addressed directly. Feel free to connect with Deans for support.
What do you do if you are chatting with a student and you become concerned about their immediate safety?
DO NOT log off, DO maintain contact & DO ask the student about their surroundings.

A student requests a check-in with you through the weekly School Climate Survey. You calendar some time with the student and they start some stressful feelings that are coming up for them during remote learning. You quickly realize that the student has a lot built up and is benefitting from the check-in. They then ask you if you both can talk on a weekly basis.
