the process of gathering information for the purpose of research through storytelling. The researcher then writes a narrative of the experience.
What is narrative inquiry?
The general term for research with numbers.
What is quantitative research?
A study similar to an experimental design, but lacks random assignment or a control group.
What is a quasi-experimental design?
Obtaining information from subjects pertaining to their feelings or thoughts through the use of interviews, focus groups, observations, etc.
What is a qualitative design?
Studies the effects of an intervention by measuring a baseline, implementing a treatment, and collecting data about the outcome at specified periods of time. Typically, the study will then return to baseline.
What is a single-case(subject) experimental design?
Use of quantitative and qualitative data within a single investigation
What is mix-methods?
Investigates the meaning of an experience in a group that has all experienced the same phenomenon.
What is Phenomenology?
An intentional and coherent approach to analyzing data across qualitative studies. It is a process that enables researchers to identify a specific research question and then search for, select, appraise, summarize, and combine qualitative evidence to address the research question
What is meta-synthesis?
Method where the researched attempts to develop a theory based on the analysis of the words of the informants.
What is a Grounded Theory Design?
The statistical procedure for combining data from multiple studies
What is a meta-analysis?
A specific mixed-method approach which consists of first collecting quantitative data and then collecting qualitative data to help explain or elaborate on the quantitative results.
What is an explanatory sequential design?
A study of the features and interactions of a culture by immersion in the natural setting for a period of time.
