I’m Mike, and I’m the luckiest kid in the world. I want to tell you about my adventures. My family and I are sailing around the world. I’m in Grenada now, an island in the Caribbean Sea. It’s midnight, and my sisters and I just had a dance party – on a boat. That’s because I live on a boat. My father and stepmother think we should spend less time on our screens and more time as a family this year. I was nervous at first, especially when I saw how small the boat was! But, actually, boat life is lots of fun!
April 17
We get up at 7 am every day on the boat. First, we check the
parts of the boat and prepare breakfast. Then my sisters and
I must have our lessons. My stepmother is our teacher! She’s
more caring than my teacher at my regular school was. We started
studying maths this month. My father says we can learn science
and geography from the places we visit! Just yesterday, we went
on a tour of a cocoa bean farm from 300 years old ago. We bought
fresh cocoa, and went back to the boat to make chocolate cake!
May 10
Tonight, we went to Levera Beach, on the northeast coast of Grenada.
At night, around this time of year, sea turtles swim onto the beach
and put their eggs carefully in the sand. We were patient, and finally,
around 10 pm, we saw it – a huge turtle coming onto the sand.
Our guide used his red light to show us the turtle digging a hole
in the sand and putting her eggs in it. Then, the turtle covered the
eggs with sand, and returned slowly to the sea. I’m happy my family
and I had this interesting experience together.
