What is the difference between an adjective & an adverb?

False! There are only three adjectives here: "old", "tired", and "dark".

Three adverbs: "so", "incredibly", "completely".

Three Adverbs: "Today", "carefully", and "slowly".
Explain how/why not every word that ends in "-ly" is an adverb.
Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. Adjectives describe nouns/pronouns. But, words that end in "-ly" can be descriptions.
For instance, the "ugly duckling". "Ugly" ends in "-ly", yes, but it is DESCRIBING a noun. It's all about how the word is used.

There are three adjectives listed in the following sentence: "Juan D smoothly lobbed the round, orange ball to Ilan for a ferocious dunk."
True! This is true because there are three adjectives here: "round", "orange", and "ferocious".
Write down ALL the adjectives and ALL the adverbs in the following sentence:

Three Adjectives = "strong", "four", "five".
