When an aircraft reaches the limit of its clearance, and a further clearance is not issued, the pilot is expected to continue with the circuit.

Define Waypoint.

A specified geographical location, defined by longitude and latitude, that is used in the definition of routes and terminal segments and for progress reporting purposes.

From the Notes:

At times, the aircraft that has just landed taxies slowly on the runway while the next arrival is quickly approaching. This is a good time to use the expression ________ in communicating with the aircraft that is still on the runway.

Example:

__________

At times, the aircraft that has just landed taxies slowly on the runway while the next arrival is quickly approaching. This is a good time to use the expression "EXPEDITE" in communicating with the aircraft that is still n the runway.

Example:

"(aircraft id) EXPEDITE (exit instructions) TRAFFIC (location) (communication instructions)."

"ABC EXPEDITE EXIT RIGHT ON ECHO, TRAFFIC SHORT FINAL, CONTACT GROUND ONE-TWO-ONE-DECIMAL-NINER WHEN OFF."

VFR aircraft are considered separated when they have reported over separate clearly defined geographic points and their intended routes of flight will not conflict thereafter.

In some situations, it is enough to tell an aircraft that it is number 1. This tells the pilot:

- They do not need to look for traffic in front

- To expect a clearance later, as the controller is waiting on something (such as a departure).

If a landing clearance has been issued but you cannot ensure that the runway and the RPA are free, or will be free, of all known obstacles, including taxiing aircraft and ground traffic, cancel the clearance.

"(aircraft id) LANDING CLEARANCE CANCELLED, (AIRCRAFT / VEHICLE) INSIDE THE RUNWAY PROTECTED AREAS AT (location). ADVISE INTENTIONS."

Aircraft are considered visually separated when one of the following applies:

- You can see the aircraft and no conflict exists.

- At least one pilot reports sighting traffic.

In general, give the sequence number as soon as it is useful for the pilot. This is often mid-downwind, but it can be anywhere as long as:

- The pilot has a reasonable possibility of spotting the aircraft they are following;

- The position of both aircraft lead to a clear course of action for the pilot.

Report arrival information as indicated in Reporting Arrivals.

- On pilot request

        o Any type:

        o VFR aircraft:

- On FIC request

        o VFR aircraft:

- Without delay

        o IFR or CVFR aircraft:

- On pilot request

o Any type: Give the "time on"

o VFR aircraft: Report the arrival time to the FIC.

- On FIC request

o VFR aircraft: Report the arrival time to the FIC.

- Without delay

o IFR or CVFR aircraft: Forward the arrival time to the appropriate ACC.

Do not apply altitude restrictions that contravene terrain clearance requirements.

Apply VFR altitude restrictions using either of the following forms:

- "...NOT ABOVE (altitude)..."

- "...NOT BELOW (altitude)..."

Promptly cancel restrictions issued to VFR aircraft if they are no longer required or visual separation has been achieved.

"(aircraft id) ALTITUDE RESTRICTION CANCELLED MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION FROM (aircraft type)."

Visual Meteorological Conditions

- Canada: Meteorological conditions, expressed in terms of visibility and distance from cloud, equal to or greater than the minima specified in CAR 602.

- ICAO and US: Meteorological conditions, expressed in terms of visibility, distance from cloud, and ceiling, equal to or better than the minima.

March UOM - Traffic Management - Site-Specific Ground Operations - Transfer of Control and Coordination (Excerpt) - Complete the reference:

Transfer of control for an aircraft, from the Ground controller to the Airport controller, or vice versa, should happen __________________, and:

Departing Aircraft:

- _________

- _________

Arriving Aircraft:

- _________

Transfer of control for an aircraft, from the Ground controller to the Airport controller, or vice versa, should happen at the same time as the transfer of communications, and:

Departing Aircraft:

- The aircraft is on the taxiway that leads to the takeoff runway and has passed the last intersection

- The FDE is in the IWP DEP SEQ panel.

Arriving Aircraft:

- The aircraft has left the active runway.

When a pilot reports at the limit of the aircraft's initial clearance, issue a further clearance as follows:

- Aircraft identification

- Sequence number

- Traffic information. Includes information such as position, type, and, if significant, the color of the aircraft to follow, if not number one on approach.

- Control instructions

Define Visual Separation

A means used by controllers to separate aircraft operating in visual meteorological conditions

- VFR: The controller, having determined that a potential conflict exists, issues clearances, instructions, and information as necessary to aid aircraft in establishing visual contact with each other or to assist aircraft in avoiding other aircraft.

- IFR or CVFR: Following a pilot's report that the traffic is in sight, the controller issues the clearance and instructs the pilot to provide his or her own separation by manoeuvring the aircraft as necessary to avoid or follow the traffic.
