Why did Abraha want to destroy the Kabaa? What did he do? What lesson(s) do we learn from his story?

He was jealous that a lot of people went to Makkah but no one visited his country, Yemen. He gathered a huge army of soldiers and elephants

One major lesson learned is that: The Real Power belongs to Allah & Allah is the Al-Qawy (The Strong One) Al-Mateen (The Most Powerful one) Al-Aziz (The Exalted in Might)

Another lesson learned is: Great events are prepared for by great matters, with signs that indicate the significance of what is to come.

One example of this is the Year of the Elephant, which was part of the events that prepared the world at that time for the birth of the Prophet ﷺ.

O Allah, make me among those who turn to You in repentance, and make me among those who are purified.

Why should one be forgiving? Why should one be respectful?

Forgiveness is a quality that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) demonstrated throughout his life. The real success is when you win Allah's pleasure and His reward. Forgiving others enables you to do that & you are granted Allah's forgiveness in reward.

We should always be respectful because Allah SWT created us all from the same thing, no one is better than anyone just by identity, race, religion, etc. Loving Allah SWT means that one has to respect His creation.

What is the translatio/meaning of the two verses?

From a far part of the town, a man came running, fearing his people's denial of the messengers and their threatening to kill or harm them. He said: O my people, follow what these messengers have brought.

O people, follow those who do not ask you for any reward for conveying what they brought and are rightly guided in the revelation of Allah that they bring to you. Whoever is like that deserves to be followed.

How has Islam honored and elevated the status of parents? How does Allah SWT show us the great importance of parents in the Quran?

By connecting the command to worship Allah SWT alone and affirm his Oneness directly with the command to honor and be good to our parents.

Al-Thahir means The Obvious or The Evident everywhere and can not be ignored. He is Unseen, but our eyes see the evidence of his existence where ever we look.
