Explain what the Paleolithic Era was and how we transitioned into the next era.

The Paleolithic Era, also called the Old Stone Age, was the earliest and longest period of human history. During this time, humans lived as nomadic hunter-gatherers, moving from place to place in small groups to find food. People used simple stone tools, controlled fire, created early art (like cave paintings), and depended entirely on the natural environment for survival.

The transition out of the Paleolithic Era happened because humans gradually learned how to farm. This shift—called the Neolithic Revolution—began when people started to domesticate plants and animals, settle in one place, and build permanent villages. Farming produced more reliable food supplies, which led to population growth, specialized jobs, and eventually the rise of the first civilizations.
