What is the exposition?
A character or force who wants something opposite than the protagonist; typically the bad guy in the story
What is an antagonist?
Most common type of external conflict. Two characters opposing one another
What is Person vs. Person?
The perspective or angle from which the author tells the story.
What is point of view?
What the text is mainly about; can typically be states in ONE sentence
What is central idea?
A character who is the direct opposite of the protagonist; is used to highlight the traits, appearance, personality, or even morals of the protagonist

What is foil?
A character who is in opposition with themselves, usually over a decision that needs to be made.

What is first person point of view?
Effective or persuasive speaking or writing
What is rhetoric?
Where the majority of the action occurs in the story and begins to build the tension and suspense within a story
What is rising action?
A character who changes over time
What is a dynamic character?
Conflict against a tradition, law, institution, etc.
What is Person vs. Society?
This point of view is where the narrator knows everything about the story and all characters
What is third person omniscient?
A statement about human nature or about life that the author is trying to express; often the moral or message of the story
What is Theme?
The point in the story where the conflict is first introduced
What is the inciting incident?
A character known for only for one trait or characteristic.
What is flat character?
When a character must battle the elements.
What is Person vs. Nature?
Point of view when the story is only told from one character's viewpoint; only access to ONE character's thoughts and feelings
What is third person limited point of view?
The author's choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing
What is diction?
The end of the story; most loose ends are tied, but the conflict is not always solved
What is the resolution?
A character that does not change throughout a story
What is static character?
When a character's luck is against him
What is Person vs. Fate?
Point of view that is used the least and uses the pronoun "you"
What is second person point of view?
The attitude that an author takes toward a given subject. DAILY DOUBLE :)
