What did you do for step number 4 in STEAM class to pick a solution?
We got in teams and showed our ideas, and then picked the best one.
How many steps does the design method have?
9
How do all life cycles start?
With new life coming into the world. Birth.
Tell me the 4 stages of a plant's life cycle:
1) Seed
2) Seedling
3) Mature plant with flowers
4) Adult plant with fruit
Most mammals do metamorphosis:
a) True
b) False
b) False
We poured dirty water to test the prototype and see if it could clean the water.
To do this step you can investigate in books, scientific journals, or the internet; by surveying people; or by talking to experts.
WHAT STEP AM I TALKING ABOUT?
The second step: doing research.
What happens if adult organisms form a species stop reproducing?
The species will go extinct. Plus the life cycle will end.
Why do you think dandelion seeds can float in the wind?
So the wind can move the seeds to new places, so a life cycle of a new dandelion plant can start all over.
Explain to me what Metamorphosis means:
Species of animals who change form or structure from when they are born to when they are adults.
What did you do in your first step in STEAM when you were going to build a water filter?
We identifies the problem (1st step):
Miss Cynthia showed us videos talking about the water crisis and how much water was getting wasted.
A fashion designer will make many fashion sketches to see which one work the best to solve needs they have.
What step am I describing?
Juvenile stage is also known as the stage when organisms:
a) Grow
b) Reproduce
c) Socialice
a) Grow
What do we call a "baby" plant that has just been born from a seed?
a) Seedling
b) Sprout
c) Vine
a) Seedling
What fo we call a dragon fly in its juvenile stage?
a) larva
b) caterpillar
c) nymph
c) nymph
After you built your towers and miss Belén tested it, what was the 7th step of the design process, and what did you have to do in it?
It was to communicate results, we wrote down what i had been like to build out towers, and if they worked or didn't work.
Once a mechanic has worked on fixing the car, it must turn the engine on and make sure everything works.
What step of the process is he doing?
Step 6) Test the Prototype
Inside an egg there is an:
Embryo
a) A plant that reproduces through seeds
b) A plant that reproduces through spores
b) A plant that reproduces through spores
Metamorphosis can only occur to insects:
A) True
b) False
b) False
It can also occur to some fish and amphibians like the frog.
How many times did you do the redesign step when building your towers?
We built them the first time without using the design method, then we redesigned and did them again. At the end, after building the tower a second time, we had a chance to think about how we would redesign if we had a second chance.
So 2 times
Why is it important to get feedback in the 8th step?
Other people might have a good idea that you haven't tried yet to solve your problem.
Tell me the names of 3 baby animals:
Name a least 2 ways in which plants defend themselves so their life cycle doesn't end early:
They use physical and chemical barriers to defend themselves from predators.
Physical barriers would be their thorns.
Chemical barriers would be like the toxins they produce against bacteria and insects.
Also they warn other plants they are being attacked so the other plants get prepared.
What is the difference between a complete and incomplete metamorphosis?
Incomplete metamorphosis has three stages: egg, nymph, and adult.
In complete metamorphosis similar changes occur species go changing from egg to larva or maggot, then pupa or cocoons, and finally adults.
