Why is the earth's surface cooler at certain times of the day?

The earth’s temperature  depends on where the sun is pointing on the earth at the certain time of day. In the early morning  the sun’s rays are low and less concentrated and so the surface is less warm.

1

Where is the sun in the sky from our perspective at noon?

Its rays hits directly at a 90 degree angle(right above earth)

1

What is climate change?

Climate change is a change in the average conditions.

1

What happens after water is evaporated from the heat of the sun?

It rises to the clouds to make precipitation (rain, snow, hail, sleet) to fall back to the earth's surface, beginning the process of once again back into the clouds to do it again.

1

What fabric that we tested is waterproof?

Vinyl

2

How does the air move?

Winds are created when there are differences in air pressure from one area to another.

2

Is what time of day are the sun's rays most concentrated?

At noon

2

Why does the greenhouse gasses make the planet hotter

It traps the heat from leaving the atmoshere

2

Name 2 types of clouds (besides cumlonimus)

  • cumulus, cirrus,  altocumulus, stratus clouds & wall clouds.

2

What is the most common weather phenomena?

Clouds

3

A big hail storm is coming. Name an industry (category of work) that would care about this weather and why.

- Agriculture (farms) because hail can damage it

- Home owners because it can damage your house and car.

3

Name a major/ extreme weather event that occurs at least once a year in Alberta

Hail Storm, Blizzard, Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm

3

Name 3 greenhouse gasses?

  1.  Co2

  2. Methane

  3. nitrous oxide

  4. Water vapor

3

How is the weather generally affected as climate change gets worse?

There will be more severe weather like heat waves flooding and storms

3

What type of cloud is related to thunderstorms?

cumulonimbus

4

What temperature does water freeze at?

0 degrees

4

Put these temperatures in order of hottest to coldet:

3, -6, 16, 23, -18, -1, 13

23, 16, 13, 3, -1, -6, -18

4

How is Climate different from weather?

Climate is weather over a long period of time and weather changes all the time.

4

What is the effect of the greenhouse gasses?

It acts as a barrier in the atmosphere to keep the heat from the sun's rays from leaving.

4

What weather cycle involves moisture in the air?

The water cycle

5

What fabric should you wear if it is very cold outside to keep warm that we tested?

wool

5

Where does hot air go?

It rises in comparison to cool air

5

Name a  time when climate changed naturally?

Ice age

5

Name 3  human actions that are  connected to greenhouse effect?

  1. Pollution from Factories

  2. Pollution from Cars

  3. Large Agricultural waste

5

Name 3 MAIN types of precipitation
