For regular verbs, the past participle is usually formed by adding the suffix “-ed” (e.g., “walk” becomes “walked”, "hope" - "hoped", "study" - "studied"). 

Irregular verbs have unique past participles that must be memorized individually (e.g. "break" - "broken","hide" -"hidden", "drive" - "driven").

We use the present perfect for an action that happened at an unspecified time in the past, or an action that started in the past and continues or is still relevant now.
