  • Normal Sinus

    • Rate= 60-100 bpm

    • Regular rhythm

    • P wave before QRS

    • P wave upright and uniform

    • PR interval < or = 0.20

    • QRS < or = 0.12

What does premature atrial contraction entail?

 A common type of irregular heartbeat that occurs when the atria, the upper chambers of the heart, contract before they should.

Usually idiopathic in nature and require no treatment.

Treatment:

Lifestyle changes, beta-blockers, etc.

What does first degree heart block entail?

PR interval is long, but consistently long.

Treatment for this is not usually needed.

  • Sinus Bradycardia

    • Rate < 60 bpm

    • Regular rhythm

    • P wave before QRS

    • P wave upright and uniform

    • PR interval < or = 0.20

    • QRS < or = 0.12

    • Treatment

      • Avoid parasympathetic stim

        • EX: coughing, gagging, etc.

      • Atropine

  5. Cardioversion

Treatment: A temporary or permanent pacemaker may be place, medication usage also will be looked at.

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), Defibrillation, Medicines, Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), Catheter ablation, Left cardiac sympathetic denervation.

P wave for every QRS, but not a QRS for every p wave.

Treatment: Immediate transcutaneous pacing or transvenous pacing.

    • Vagal stimulation

    • Correct underlying problem: stress, drugs

    • Diltiazem

    • Adenosine

    • Digitalis

    • Amiodarone

      • Vagal stimulation, adenosine, cardioversion

  1. Treatment:

    • Check patient/leads

    • CPR

    • PATCH(4) MDS

      • Pulmonary embolis

      • Cardiac tamponade

      • Hyperkalemia

      • Myocardial Infarct

Treatment: NO lidocaine, treatment is usually a pacemaker
