What does microfloc do to the pool chemistry and what is it used for?

MicroFloc will lower alkalinity *250 bonus points if you mentioned that it also has borates in it*

It is used to clarify the pool water by clumping particles into larger masses to allow your filter to catch it.

Count the amount of uprights, or verticals there are on the pool

1. About a week (depending on how dirty the pool is) before the closing date, start cleaning the entire pool and get it perfectly balanced, check the borate level and do a heavy dose of microfloc to get as many contaminants out as possible. *250 bonus points if you can tell me the ideal range for borates*

2. About 3 days before the closing over chlorinate and add Riken Pools Winter Magic and let it circulate until the closing date.

What are the steps for shock and flock if you were explaining it to a customer?

1. 3. Remove cartridge or put pool on recirculate

2. Scrub entire pool *250 bonus points if you can say what areas are most often forgotten and where algae blooms tend to hide even if the pool water is crystal clear.*

3. Add chemicals as needed

4. Run filter for 4-6 hours only if the pool was already on. If the pool was off for a few days or just opened they can skip this step

No more than 18 inches

At a customers house you show up and it is a cartridge filter and a single speed pump and it is not priming. The pool water level is okay. There is no clog in the skimmer basket. All valves are functioning normally. The pump is hot to the touch.

Impeller is clogged and seized up. See if you can unclog is completely and then spin it about 15-20 complete rotations and see if it primes.

500

What is the benefit of maintaining hardness or calcium levels in a pool?

The body of water will not compensate for it by taking it out of what it is in contact with (liner, gunite or fiberglass). Additionally, too much calcium or high hardness can cause scaling on the pool or equipment.

A customer brings in their Maytronics Dolphin T35 and they said it is not turning on at home. What do you do first?

Flip the cleaner upside down on the floor so the tracks are facing up. Plug it into an outlet and hit the on button on the "brain", or power supply. This triggers a troubleshooting mode and it should make the tracks move forward and backwards then stop. If that doesn't happen then you give the whole unit to Kelly. If it does work, then you go put it in the pool outside and test it in the water. Sometimes just doing that test out of the water is enough to trigger it to reset and it will work again.
