What is the procedure for when a visitor enters the classroom?
Greet them; Let them see you at work; don't leave your seat or call out to the visitor.

What are the procedures for using the restroom during the day?
1. If at all possible, go before school or during lunch. 2. Don't ask to go while Ms. Martin is talking to the whole group. 3. Don't ask to go during an assembly. 4. Go any time that Ms. Martin is not talking, as long as you have a bathroom stick available; show the bathroom sign instead of raising a hand 5. ALWAYS: Walk to and from the bathroom silently and behave responsibly in the bathroom.

What do you do when Ms. Martin says "CLASS, CLASS"?
Immediately stop talking and say "YES, YES" in the same voice that she used.

What happens when the bell rings or a whistle is blown?
1. Games must stop immediately


2. 1-2 people pick up all equipment

Only the Learning Goal Monitor, Detectives Assistance, or Schedule Detective. Leave a sticky note on a pencil if you want it to be returned to you.

Immediately stop what you're doing and say "BACK" in the same voice that she used.

Field Hockey Rules

* Stick must be used to move the puck (no kicking or throwing) 

*When a puck goes out of bounds, the last team that contacted it loses possession. 

*All players may stop the puck with their hands but may not hold, pass, or throw it. 

*Players must keep their sticks BELOW the waist. 

*Players must avoid ALL body contact with players. 

*Each goal is scored as one point.

Tetherball Rules (Need at least 2)

Never grab the rope 

You may grab ball to stop it 

Stay on your side 

Winner chooses sides and serves 

Winners may play up to two games, then goes to the end of the line 

No additional rules, school rules only 

No hanging, swinging, or sitting on the ball 

First person in line is the referee and his/her calls are final. He/She decides if a foul has been committed. 

When a foul occurs, the penalty is a free hit for the opponent. 

The following are fouls: when a player steps across the line into the other area; when a player touches the rope, pole, throws the ball, hits the ball with any other part of the body than the hands and double hits

When is it okay to get a drink of water?
1. Don't ask to get a drink while a teacher is talking to the whole group. 2. During independent work time, it's okay to get a drink from the classroom fountain without asking. 3. Water bottles are okay as long as it's in the cubby section. 4. No liquid except water is allowed in the classroom.

What is the procedure for entering the classroom (at the beginning of the day, after recess, or after lunch)?
Check the board for messages and start working silently. When there is no specific work on the board or desk, read, work on unfinished work, or write in your writer's notebook.

Basketball Rules (Need at least 2)

Everyone playing basketball should be considerate of others. 

There will be no pushing, or shoving. It is to be a friendly, non-competitive game.

If at any time more than 12 students wish to play basketball the teams will need to divide and play half court. If 12 or less are playing, then you may play full court.

NO:

* Double teaming

* Zone defense

* Unsportsmanlike conduct

* Taunting

* Throwing elbows

* Fighting/Pushing

* Swearing

* Arguing with the yard duty teacher

When is it okay to come talk to Ms. Martin when she's working with an individual student or a small group?
Never! Well, okay, if there is a life or death emergency I'd want to know about that.

What is the proper way to stand and walk in line?
Line up alphabetically unless Ms. Martin calls you by table groups. The lead detectives open and close the door. Don't touch anyone or anything (including the walls). Stop at all designated stops - polls. Any time you are in a line you need to be completely, 100% silent, whether you are walking or standing still. One exception: it's okay to talk while you are waiting in the lunch line outside the cafeteria.

Soccer Rules (Need 2 or more rules)

No running or chasing on the blacktop 

Running is allowed out on the grass field away from populated areas 

Tackling, grabbing or pushing is forbidden 

Use kicking balls only on the field away from populated areas  

No climbing on the backstops

No using hands (except by goalie or for throw-ins) while playing soccer. 

Stop play if someone is injured – resume play with a throw in.
