A war (1754–63) where Britain and colonists fought France and some Native allies for land in North America. Britain went into debt and started taxing and controlling the colonies more, which made colonists angry and helped lead to the Revolution.

“No taxation without representation” means colonists believed it was unfair for Britain to tax them when they had no representatives (no voice/vote) in the British government (Parliament).

Loyalists were colonists who stayed loyal to Britain, and they were often wealthy merchants or government-connected people because they benefited from British rule and didn’t want to risk losing money, power, or safety.

The Stamp Act (1765) was a British law that made colonists pay a tax on printed paper. Required a “stamp” on newspapers, legal papers, licenses, contracts, and playing cards.

What were the Intolerable Acts? List one or two repercussions. 

The Intolerable Acts (1774) were British laws meant to punish Boston/Massachusetts after the Boston Tea Party and warn the other colonies. (1)They closed Boston Harbor, (2) took away Massachusetts’ self-government,  (3) limited town meetings, and (4) put Boston under military control (martial law) with more soldiers.

Describe the "Join or Die" poster to you top right. What did this mean and, or represent to the brewing revolutionary war cause?

The “Join or Die” poster shows a snake cut into pieces, with each piece labeled as a colony. It meant the colonies had to unite and work together, or they would fail. It represented that unity was necessary to stand up to Britain.

A British rule that stopped colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. It angered colonists because Britain was blocking them from getting new land adding fuel to the fire of revolution.
