Road to the revolution Task: Use your research/graphic organizer to develop a roadmap to the revolution. Directions: Your map should include the following:★ All events from your organizer. Each event should have the following: ● Date & brief description of how the event led to the Revolution (determine importance, summarize) ● A picture/symbol to represent the event ● Colonists & British (if applicable) response to the event. Label each response with a (V- violent or NV-nonviolent). *In other words, how did the colonists/British react to the event? Remember, it’s cause and effect like dominoes. Each event led to another event/response. ★ Your roadmap should be: ● Colored ● Legible ★ Be creative! Not all road maps look the same. Yours could have: exit signs, mile markers, town names, bridges, rivers. Maybe a play on words or irony. What do “drivers” see along the way? Billboards, pit stops, etc. Feel free to have fun and make it your own! Standards Focus: 8.H.CO.1 Explain how colonial resistance to British control led to the Revolutionary War. 8.C.CP.1 Analyze the origin and purposes of rule of law, popular sovereignty, federalism, separation of powers and checks and balances. 8.C.CV.1 Analyze the impact of the democratic principles of equality before the law, inalienable rights, consent of the governed and the right to alter or abolish the government in the United States. 8.I.CC.2 Construct arguments by drawing on multiple disciplinary lenses to analyze how multiple perspectives, diversity and conflict and compromise impacted the development of the United States. Mammoth cheese

"Road to Revolution cheese" refers to a huge 1,230-pound cheddar wheel gifted to President Thomas Jefferson by New England Republicans in 1802 as a political statement against Federalists, nicknamed the "Mammoth Cheese" by critics, symbolizing support for Jefferson's "republican" ideals, while Bayley Hazen Blue from Jasper Hill Farm is a modern, historically named cheese referencing a Revolutionary-era road, showcasing the ongoing connection between American history and artisanal cheese.
