The Dusky Seaside Sparrow primarily inhabited the salt marshes of Merritt Island in Florida, which were heavily impacted by development, leading to a drastic decline in their population. 
Conservation efforts:As the population dwindled, the remaining few birds were brought to Disney's Discovery Island to attempt breeding and conservation efforts. Extinction:Sadly, despite these efforts, the last known Dusky Seaside Sparrow died on Discovery Island, officially declaring the species extinct
