What are rocks made out of?
Many minerals!
What is the layer of the Earth that we walk on?
The crust
What is soil made out of? Name 3 ingredients.
Rocks, wood, bugs, oxygen, leaves, twigs, water
What are the three types of rocks?
Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic
What kind of scientists study rocks and minerals?
Geologists!
What is the texture of a rock?
How hard, smooth or uneven a rock feels.
How is the Earth like an apple?
They are both round, have a core, have a crust/skin, and have layers.
NOT A SOIL QUESTION-->

They are broken down by weathering such as ice, water, etc.
How are metamorphic rocks formed?
Rocks are put under heat and pressure and changed into metamorphic rocks.
Which type of rock has layers?
Sedimentary!
How are rocks like chocolate chip cookies?
The different ingredients that make up a cookie are like the different minerals that make up a rock!
Which layer of the Earth is liquid?
The Outer Core!
Name one reason why soil is so important in our environment.
Soil holds up plants, makes food for plants, and helps rain and snow soak into the ground.
How are sedimentary rocks formed?

Iron and Nickel
How does air get into the soil?
There are little holes called pores in the soil where the air goes into.
What type of rocks have fossils in them? Why?
Sedimentary rocks because animals die and get stuck between the layers over time.
How can you tell when a rock has carbonates? (hint: think of the acid from our fieldtrip)
When you put acid on the rock and the acid bubbles! That means there's a reaction between rocks and the acid.
