On the day appointed for the race the two started together. The Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course. Based on the passage below what can we infer being released means? NEEDLESS TO SAY, HE WILL BE RELEASED, the voice had said, followed by silence. There was an ironic tone to that final message, as if the Speaker found it amusing; and Jonas had smiled a little, though he knew what a grim statement it had been. For a contributing citizen to be released from the community was a final decision, a terrible punishment, an overwhelming statement of failure. Even the children were scolded if they used the term lightly at play, jeering at a teammate who missed a catch or stumbled in a race. Lowry, Lois (1993-04-26). The Giver (Newbery Medal Book) (pp. 2-3). Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Kindle Edition.
What is I think being released means put to death because the text says it is terrible punishment and a final decision and released sounds very ominous to me.

What does the watch symbolize in the text below and why: Daniel fiddled with his father's watch, it felt too cold and heavy on his wrist. The shiny silver gleamed back at Daniel and reflected his grown up face. In his reflection he was taken aback by how much he resembled his father. The now graying hair, the strong jaw and deep brown eyes, they could have been twins. Sadness creep in as he realized he would never see his fathers face again. He would only have the reflection in the silver watch left to him.
What is The watch represent's Daniel's relationship with his father and how much he misses him. I think this because the text say's the watch used to be his father's and talks about his reflection in the watch.
