Tj is better known as Tj avery, son of Mr avery who provides a crucial point in the story about the night men. Tj could also be seen as unfaithful and untrustworthy.

Jeremy is part of the Simms family, he does not understand the racism that occurs so he is very friendly towards the Logan's.

They see him as a man willing to do anything for his family, he pushes past racism to make ends meet.

Harlan Granger is the owner of the plantations that the Logans live on, he takes a specific amount of money from their crops each time their sold and is basically the king white man

Cassie could be seen as not affected by the altercation, but towards the end of the book she is seen as upset and affected by Tjs death or imprisonment.
