Attendance and Truancy
Parents/guardians reports an absences on or before the day of the absence.
What is an excused absence?
Prescription and over-the-counter medication.
What is administered through the health office?
A proactive approach that is implemented to improve school safety and to promote positive behavior.
What is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)?
Hoodies, beanies, hats, caps, etc. - (Head coverings are not allowed anywhere on campus unless for religious or medical reasons.)
What is consider head covering?
Elastic-plastic, sticky, chewy substance (on occasion found on the bottom of your shoe) that is absolutely not allowed on campus.
What is gum?
Students is eligible to participate in an afternoon or evening activities with partial attendance. (team sports, dances, etc.)
What is a minimum of a half day school attendance?
Students who purposefully misuse or distribute medication.
Who is subjected to disciplinary actions?
Students are encouraged and empowered to report bullying, including cyberbullying, incidents anonymously by filling out an incident report in the Student Center.
What is Royal Palm's Bullying/Cyberbullying Prevention reporting procedures?
Flip-flops, slippers, slides and shower shoes.
What is inappropriate footwear?
Drinks are permitted on campus only if purchased at Royal Palm. Water may be brought on campus and will be permitted in classrooms. Water must be in a clear container with a sealable lid.
What drinks are permitted on campus?
An attendance or truancy referral to the WESD Attendance Unit as a result of a specific number of a defined behavior.
What is five unexcused/unverified truancies or 10 total absences?
Parents must update all phone numbers (cell, home and work) throughout the year, in order for the health office to reach parents when there is an emergency.
Who contacts the school office?
Student is removed to a buddy room to think about what they did, why they did it, and asked to write a plan on how they will prevent the behavior from happening in the future.
What is a reflection form?
May only be worn over eyes outdoors and must be worn appropriately.
What are sunglasses?
Used to carry books and/or a computer and prohibited on the Royal Palm campus.
What is a backpack?
Students are required to complete four educational intervention classes to be held during the lunch period.
What happens as a result of 10 absences?
Services provided by and for students who are in crisis or who have personal, sensitive or private issues that they wish to discuss.
Who is the Social Workers?
A repeated third infraction of a classroom managed behavior. (documentation of classroom interventions and parent contact made)
What constitutes is an Office Discipline Referral (ODR)?
Pajamas, sleepwear, loungewear, etc.
What is nightwear and not permitted to wear at school?
Royal Palm does not recommend bringing electronic devices to school and is not responsible for any lost or stolen electronic.
What is Royal Palm's Electronic Devices/Cell Phone Policy?
An Office Referral with potential to be refereed to the WESD Attendance Unit.
What may result from Chronic tardies?
Daily Double - New to Royal Palm, a staff member that works with individuals, families, and groups to meet basic needs and enhance social functioning, self-determination, collective responsibility, optimal health, and overall well-being.

What is one of the core beliefs of the Royal Palm discipline policy?
Parent(s) may be contacted to drop off a change of clothing or a student may be asked to change into school-provided clothing.
What are consequences for dress code violation?
Daily Double - Students are permitted to board the bus, enter the lunch room and check out books in the library with this.
