Howl - a demon in possession of a human body - is best known as a "heartless" magician. Though the first time we meet Howl, he's helping Sophie evade being hit on by soldiers in town. This is maybe somewhat undercut by the fact that he brings her to the attention of the Witch of the Waste, resulting in a curse being placed upon her. We really only see his demonic side when he turned into a bird monstrosity during the war.

The game ends when one player has no more cards remaining - that person being the winner.
