Participant was talking loudly, cursing, gesturing with fists, expressing frustration and insulting case manager because she could not schedule an appointment today. Case manager practiced de-escalation techniques, used active and reflective listening, and helped participant calm. They found a meeting time that would work for both of them, without further incident.
