During arrival what observable expectations are required of staff?
1. Actively moving around group - standing not sitting
2. taking attendance
3. greeting students as they arrive
4. enforcing expectations - asking permission before getting up, not yelling, staying with your group etc.
When going out to the yard, what is the first two things staff should do when they get outside?
Close the fence gate to the street. Visually sweep the yard for any safety hazards.
What information should be included when reporting an accident?
Student name, Time of incident, location, activity, Student complaint, any visible injury, first aid given
A student comes out of the bathroom and tells you they cut their hand. What should you do?
What first aid items should be in every group bin?
Bandaids, gloves, gauze, ice packs
What are observable expectations for active supervision in your classroom?
1. staff are actively moving around the room
2. staff are not on cellphones or eating in classrooms - following same rules as students
3. staff are actively engaged with students
4. both staff are assisting with the activity
What is heat stroke? Name 3 symptoms of heat stroke.
Heat stroke is when your body is overheated and can't cool itself down. Symptoms: nausea, hot or cold to touch, clammy, pale, sweaty, dizziness, throwing up, lethargy - overly tired
Name 5 (different) student situations where leadership should immediately be called
1. Cursing at or hitting staff
2. Hitting another student
3. Threatening to hurt themselves
4. Threatening to hurt others
5. A threat to the student outside of program (ex: kids are going to beat them up on their way home)
Anna tells you that Shawn has a water gun in his backpack. What should you do?
Immediately call leadership. DO NOT remove the water gun yourself. Do NOT ask the student yourself
What should you do if a student's nose starts bleeding?
1. tell the student not to move
2. move other students away from the student
3. put on PPE/gloves
4. give the student paper towels or gauze and have them sit
5. check the student & environment for any blood
6. Call Debs/Jada to review how to properly hand any bodily fluids/blood & the students nose bleed
DO NOT have them tilt their head back.
What rules are their for the cafeteria space during arrive? Including, supper, bathroom, water & visiting other groups, asking Debs questions
Supper: staff bring students up & back - dont send kids if line is long
Bathroom: must get permission and must be supervised by a staff member
Water: must get permission, must be able to see the student as they are getting water
Visiting groups: is not allowed
Asking debs: students should ask Debs and staff can ask Debs if necessary. Do not send students to Debs
- clear the yard before bringing students out
- be vigilant for people hanging out or speaking to students
- do not let anyone approach students in the yard - stand between students and anyone from the public
- call Debs or Jada for help immediately if there is an issue
A student find a keychain and accidentally sprays mace in your classroom - what should you do? List specific order
1. Immediately evacuate your group into the hallway
2. Complete a headcount
3. Call leadership team
What items are considered "weapons" and must be reported immediately? (that kids might bring to school)

What are signs of an allergic reaction? What is anaphylactic shock?
Swelling, redness, rash, swollen lips or tongue, difficulty speaking or breathing, short rapid breaths. Anaphylactic shock is a sudden, severe and life-threatening allergic reaction that involves the whole body. The reaction is marked by constriction of the airways, leading to difficulty breathing. Swelling of the throat may block the airway in severe cases.
Please describe all the steps for taking a group of students to the bathroom
1. ask students to raise their hand if they need to use the bathroom - then have them line up
2. communicate to your partner how many students & which students you are taking. Check that youre in ratio. Walk out in 1 line
3. have students line up across from bathroom
4. do a visual check of the bathrooms for safety issues
5. send students to the bathroom 2 at a time - use common sense for which students to send in together
6. supervise students in the bathroom by sound
7. bring students back to the classroom as a whole group - complete a headcount
