Explain the difference between an Account vs. a Contact

When you create a customer account, you are creating a Build.com account as well as a Salesforce profile.

Do not choose to create a contact only.

Remember, an account is for both a homeowner and a trade client - but for a homeowner the account & contact name will be the same. For a Builder/Designer the Account will be the business and the contact will be those you are working with on a given project.

Ex: Bob the Builders // Bob Smith

If you are working with a new customer account called Design Works and they have 10 employees... what would I do in Salesforce?

You would create the Design Works account using a standard email like info@designworks.com

Then you would go in and create a contact for each designer working @ Design Works and you would link them to the Design Works account.

Name 3 Benefits of Salesforce

Better organization for your day

Better follow up w/ customers

Better communication w/ customers.

Better plan for closing/tracking/updating quotes.

Keeps emails forever!

Better record of our customers.

Remember, Salesforce is only helpful if you use it!

What are we asking you to do starting today going forward?

Check Salesforce daily and update opportunities.

True or False

When you move items from a project into a cart and email it to a customer, it will merge the two opportunities in Salesforce.

FALSE!

Remember that if you put items into a cart from a project (without closing the sale) it is going to create another opportunity. You may need to go close the project as a duplicate after this - you might not - just depends. See below example.

Example: Project has 3 bathrooms, you move all the valves to a cart to email that cart to the customer. Project has all remaining finish plumbing left on it - you would not want to close this out.
