Tuna Fish

They are fast-flappers, with some species flapping their wings up to 200 beats per second and increasing their heartbeat to 1200 times a minute! They can fly up, down, left and right, backwards and can even fly for short periods upside down.

These animals have the power to glide! Their ribs can actually extend, opening flaps of skin that stretch from the front legs to back legs. They can glide at least 200 feet from one tree to another. It's a great way to get around in the Southeast Asian rainforests.

Vampire Bat

They are golden colored wild dogs that live along or in packs of up to 10 animals. They travel great distances and communicate with wolf-like howls. They hunt alone or in packs and chase small game like joeys, rabbits, rodents, birds, and lizards. They will even eat fruit and plants!

Dingo

Gets it's name from the numerous long spines located all over the head and body. There are 20 spines in a row between the mouth and tail. Some types can have spines up to 2 inches long! When these fish are frightened, it pumps water into it's body until it looks like a prickly soccer ball. Very few predators are large enough or brave enough to swallow a fish that big!

Bonus Hint: You can see this fish "blowing" up in movies such as Finding Nemo and Shark Tale.

Blowfish

Expert hunters that prey on birds and bats in mid-flight. They hunt from above and after sighting their prey, they drop into a "stoop" - a steep dive - that can exceed 200 miles an hour making it the fastest creature in the world!

Peregine Falcon

This creature has special powers that include a beak-like mouth it uses to break and scrape sponges and algae from the reef. They have two claws on each flipper, a shell with serrated edges, and overlapping plates or scutes.

The world's slowest mammal! They are too slow to outrun predators, but they do have extra long necks that can turn 270 degrees to see danger around them. If they are above the water, they will sometimes drop down to evade a predator and swim to safety. They are strong swimmers!

They are the only large animals that move by hopping and they can't move backwards. Hopping is a fast and energy efficient way to travel, they can cover huge distances to look for food and water.

They have wings like pectoral fins that help them glide out of the water and through the air! They are able to glide for long distances with the help of their tail fins which they swish in the water to propel them back up!

Is known as a noisy and boisterous bird. Its loud cries are used to warn other birds and animals of danger, but are also often just for fun. They are also known to imitate raptor calls. No one knows why for sure, but one reason thought is that the sound may scare other birds away, leaving all the food for them.

It is the only known venomous lizard native to the United States. Even though it is venomous, this lizard is so slow it poses very little danger to humans.

Gila Monster

The largest of the deer relatives and they are easily recognizable by their antlers. Males antlers can grow as big as 6 feet (almost 2 meters) from end to end! They are water lovers and can swim for miles. They also have special noses that let them submerge underwater for up to 30 seconds without getting a nose-full of water!

Moose

A true power scavenger. They wander around sniffing with their great sense of smell until their nose leads them to their favorite meal-a stinky, rotten carcass! Their jaws and teeth are so powerful that they can crunch through bones like they're pretzels!

Tasmanian Devil

They have an oval shaped disk on their head that they use to attach to great big predators like the great white shark as well as other more gentle giants like manta rays and giant tortoises.

Remora

They are raptors and are great at catching fish. They have incredible eyesight – 5 times better than ours. This amazing creature power helps them see through the water’s surface and spot the shadowy silhouettes of the fish below. When they see a fish, they dive, bringing their legs and talons forward midway through the descent, hitting the water and hopefully scooping up a meal!

Osprey

These lizards are part of the iguana family and live in wetlands and tropical and subtropical rain forests of Central America, from Honduras to Panama.
