The word for the act of buying back or setting free through a payment. Saving someone from sin, or buying back an debt.
What is Justification?
When God calls a repentant sinner righteous. God declares a believing sinner "not guilty" and righteous.

How did Jesus take away our sins?
He met the requirement to cross the gap to God. He died in our place so that we didn't have to die. He took our sin so that we can now have a relationship with God.
