When arriving to the ED to see a patient, the SANE should contact this team with a goal of gathering history together.
Who is Social Work?
This form should be placed into the pencil pouch with the SD card for every patient.
What is the VDAT Colpo Eval form?
This is the number of swabs needed for vaginal evidence collection.
What is four swabs?
This person should be present during all sensitive exams.
What is a chaperone or observer?
Beginning June 1, this location will no longer receive transfers of sexual abuse patients from the ED during clinic hours.
What is the CAC?
For patients presenting with sexual abuse concerns, social work is required (by policy) to provide this service to patients and families.
What is an in-person needs assessment?
This should be emptied from the cart at the end of every case.
What is the trash?
These reports must be made when a kit is collected, since therapeutic kits are not performed.
What are reports to law enforcement?
This STAFF PERSON remains present during a sensitive exam and can attest as a witness to the events of the exam.
What is a chaperone?
This team should be contacted for in-person collaboration in cases involving patients going to the OR for sexual assault-related injuries.
What is CAPS?
When there is a clear disclosure or suspicion of abuse, these reports are mandatory.
What are reports to CPS and law enforcement?
This document should be scanned and emailed to SANELeaders@childrenswi.org for every patient.
What is the SAFE Fund form?
These kit steps require photocopies of paperwork to be placed in the medical records bin.
What are steps 1b and 20?
This person is a parent, guardian, or other adult at least 18 years old who remains present with the child during a sensitive exam.
What is an observer?
These medications should NOT be used during SANE exams because patients need to be able to provide assent.
What are sedation medications?
This is not required before proceeding with a child sexual abuse evaluation when a non-legal guardian brings the child in with concerns.
What is waiting for the parent to arrive?
This must happen to the SAFE Fund form before it is scanned and sent.
What is signing the SAFE Fund form?
Before collecting the patient's own DNA using a buccal swab, patients should do this first.
What is rinsing their mouth with water?
These are staff members who may serve as chaperones during a sensitive exam.
Who are clinical staff members?
Before responding to the ED for a patient case, the SANE should call this person to provide support to the patient during the exam.
Who is the advocate?
Parents are not consenting to a child's exam and law enforcement plans to arrest them for obstruction of justice. This team should be contacted for guidance on next steps.
Who is Risk Management?
This should be done for adolescent sensitive notes and notes on patients who have a non-protective parent.
What is blocking the note from MyChart access?
Before collecting floss evidence, the SANE should know if the patient requires this type of medication before dental work.
What are antibiotics?
The presence of this person in the room should be documented in the SANE note as it relates to a sensitive exam.
Who is the chaperone and/or observer?
These glove colors may improve colposcopy visualization by preventing the scope from focusing on the gloves and darkening the GU exam.
