What is the time you are considered "late" to work?
ALL Black Shoes, ALL Black Belt (if your pants have belt loops), khaki colored pants or skirts, Black, White, navy or Khaki socks, ALL black shoes, boots or sneakers, ONLY navy blue or burgundy sweaters, sweatshirts or coverups (unless you are going outside or unless the item is branded with approved SCCS branding.)
What is the full school uniform for staff (and students?)
This can be found in the Wildcat Staff Portal. Please fill one out for field trips, guest speakers or other things that would cause a deviation from the traditional school day schedule.
What is a non-instructional activity request?
All NEW staff will subjected to this 90 day period where professionalism and performance are evaluated.
What is probationary?
While the school may require you to provide this for any reason; it is required for any absences lasting 3 days or longer.
What is a doctor's note?
6:15-7:00 AM
What is the morning call out timeframe for same day absences?
This action creates an unsafe environment for students no matter the location (classroom, hallway, outside, etc) in the school. As a result, corrective actions up to and including immediate termination can occur. That doesnt mean you can never use the bathroom...you just have to phone a friend!
We take management of this very seriously. Please don't keep this in your classroom or office area once it is collected. You should turn all of this into the Chief Operating Officer each and every day so it can be accounted for and held in a locked safe.
What is money?
This period of time that all teachers are allotted is not considered a "lunch break" therefore employees may not leave the building (without prior approval.) Its ok if you keep snacks at your desk in case you get "hangry!"
What is planning period?
Unfortunately, death occurs in the lives of our faculty. SCCS offers this type of no-charge leave in 1, 3 or 5 day increments. Please refer to the chart for specifics on that information.
What is bereavement leave?
The definitive record of employee time. If you don't use it you wont get paid!
What is ...Paychex or time clock?
This may only be used on or in a professional capacity for school related topics or materials. Also, please don't make any changes to the color scheme or design. Put some "respect" on that Wildcat!
What is the school logo, design or letterhead?
Please be sure that these are limited to emergencies only or that they are taken out of absolute necessity and shouldn't become a distraction to teaching. I'm sure your loved ones will understand that you need to focus on your students!
What are phone calls?
SCCS is an at-will employer. Should you decide to move on to other professional opportunities...Please provide, in writing, a notice of this many days to your supervisor so that adequate adjustments may be made to allow for the least amount of disruption for the students.
What is 30 days?
A best practice for submitting leave requests is to place it in Paychex as soon as you know you will need leave time. However, the policy requests that you place advanced leave in at least this many weeks before the planned absence.
What is two weeks?
Using 90 minutes (1.5 hours) or less on any single absence
What is considered PTO (paid time off)?
Employees who are on this...will not qualify for any bonuses, promotions or raises.
What is a corrective action plan?
This type of reimbursement is mainly for individuals who are taking coursework for certification purposes. Approval is given by the Superintendent and is based on availability of funds.
What is tuition reimbursement?
If you feel that you have been treated unfairly or unjustly, you should attempt to address the issue informally with those involved. However, if that is unsuccessful you should refer to this procedure for your next course of action.
What is the problem/resolution procedure?
Unused sick leave will be paid out to the employee at the end of the year at this dollar amount per day.
What is $100?
Any professional development days (Pre-service training or teacher work days), The day before or after a holiday, The first instructional day after a break or day off, ALL standardized testing days (benchmarks, EOGs, etc), remediation days, last THREE weeks of school and the Monday after the Superbowl (Feb. 13, 2022.)
What are considered days where leave is not granted? (Blackout days or Protected days)
Employees or parents should not be put in a position of feeling compelled to donate money or be forced to buy items through this unwanted act? (pssst...I buy girl scout cookies every year; no one even needs to ask me!)
What is solicitation?
In addition to doing these for new all hires; Human Resources (operations department) may conduct these on a random and rotating basis. Employees are expected to disclose any charges within 5 days anyway.
What are background checks?
Employees should inform their supervisor of this by the last working day for teachers of the current school year.
What is your intent to return?
While we know that helping students learn is at the center of every teacher's heart...you can't do this for pay during the school year. (Even if it isn't a student that you teach in your class.) Teaching intercession or summer school is just fine since it is authorized by the school.
