What do you do when you want to talk, move, or get something during class?
We will have lots of time to talk, but you should raise your hand if you want to ask something about the lesson. If it is something else, you should be using the silent signals!!!
What do you do when you come into class?
Log into Bell Ringer on Google Classroom! When you finish, you may read SILENTLY. This is a great time to read for A.R. points.
What do you when you walk to the office or lunch?
You walk at zero and in a straight line.
When you come to school late like after 9:30, what do you do?
They will give you a late slip in the office. Go on to the class you should currently be in.
How do you get your group to work together?
Remember your Kagan seat numbers. Practice our structures when we use them. Participate with your team. Get to know your team. Practice cooperation when you want to react negatively. Ask for strategies to cooperate when it is difficult to do so.
What do you do to help others be better students?
You encourage others by saying positive things. No put downs!
How do you ask for help in class?
During a lesson, raise your hand.
During small groups or independent work, C3B4ME!
Don't interrupt me unless it is an emergency or you have already asked 3 other students. I am a stickler about this!
When the whistle or megaphone siren goes off during recess what do you do?
Run as fast as you can to the fence to lineup!
Where should 3rd grade students play during recess?
We will play on the big playground. Walking track is around the mulch. On wet days, we may ONLY PLAY on the mulch to keep muddy accidents from happening.
Occasionally we will play on the hillside to the side of the school. :)
How many people is considered a group?
2 or more people. Most groups will only have 4 to 6 people. You will not normally have more than 6.
How do students respect other students properties?
Don't touch or take others' property without permission. If you have permission, take better care of it than you think you should!
When can I use the bathroom?
Use the bathroom before class, after class, before lunch, after lunch, on the way back from another class (using silent signal), or IN EMERGENCY CIRCUMSTANCES during class. I will NOT let you go when I am instructing, but you may go during independent work or small group work IF it is an emergency only - and you MUST remember to use the silent signal.
What happens when you do not make it back to the fence at recess or get left behind?
I will count students, but ultimately, it is your responsibility to line up. If you get left behind, you will walk your recess the next day.
What happens when I get in trouble?
You will not be in trouble often. I expect you to give your best effort and make LOTS of mistakes. Work WITH each other, and participate in our class discussions.
IF your name is recorded for misbehavior, you will walk a lap at recess. If you do not correct your behavior, you will have a tally mark next to your name. And then another until you correct your behavior. But you are responsible for walking off your tallies at recess. If this doesn't help, I will call, text, or email your parents. If that doesn't help, I will send you to Mrs. Wilson's office.
What are group rules?
When in groups C3B4Me is in full effect. Do not interrupt the teacher group unless you tried 3 before me. I will turn you away and say C3B4Me.
Then, you should skip that question until the very end and ask me during a transition.
Stay ON TASK.
COMPLETE your assignment to the BEST of your ability.
What kind of food can students have in class?
Water, water, ONLY WATER!!!
How do you move from the classroom to the playground?
You line up at zero and move at zero with a smile through the hall. You may wave but you must have quiet mouths and bodies.
What happens if my balloon is about to pop?
I will ask that you first breath and count to five, turn your light on and off (go noodle), or practice freezing and melting (go noodle).
If you are having an extra hard time and you feel like your emotional balloon is about to pop, come see me and talk to me about what is going on. I have special hall passes for moments like this, but only for special circumstances.
There will be some days it is difficult to work with others, or when you don't know what to do. I want us to work through this together <3
What does a good working group look like?
They are sharing, checking answers, asking questions of each other, coaching each other, and staying ON TASK. Off task behavior results in LAPS :\
How can you respect others?
By listening to them, taking turns sharing, and using appropriate language and gestures. Remember our classroom mission statement. Hold others accountable by asking them if their behavior is helping us achieve our mission!
How do students line up?
Line up at zero, facing forward, hands in pockets or at your side.
How should you behave in the hallway to the cafeteria?
You should be at zero until you get to the lunch table. Errrrbody is starving and we will get through the line MUCH quicker if you aren't talking and holding up the line :) If you are talking in the hall to lunch or in the line, I will record your name for a lap. I'm pretty strict about hallway procedures.
When can you go out of the class?
You can. not. ever. leave. class. without. permission. period.
What kind of noise will working in group sound like?
Students talking quietly but not disrupting others. If I can hear you from across the room, you are too loud. I won't let other students disrupt your learning, so I expect you to show the same respect :)
