By raising you hand quietly until you are picked OR wait for someone to complete their thought.  (Hands down)

You hang up your coat and backpack on the hook with your class number, READ the morning message on the board and quietly visit with friends.

You walk quietly in a line.

When you come to school late like after 9:15 am, what do you do?

You need to go to the office to check in.

How do you get your group to work together?

By taking turns talking and sharing.

What do you do to help others be a better student?

You encourage others by saying positive things. No put downs!

How do you ask for help in class?

You will ask 3, then me!  Pick 3 peers that might be able to help "unstick" you.  If they don't know, come find me.

What are we allowed to do at recess?

All areas are open to 5th grade.  Stay on our property and invite others to join.

If you lose in a game during class time, what should you do?

Congratulate the winner and handle it.  If you win the game, you are kind to your opponent and say "good game."

2 or more people.

How do students respect other student's materials?

By not touching them or destroying them. Ask to use first before taking anything.

When can I use the bathroom?

Before school, during our morning and afternoon class break, during recess, and after school.  If it's outside of these times, you can take our 1 pass to go in and come back out.l

What do we do when the whistle is blown at recess?

Stop and see what the recess teachers need.  Do you need to stop something?  Is it time to line up?

Who gets to sit on the couches or wobbly chairs?

You get to decide as a class how we rotate.

Mrs. Howell calls out small groups and you aren't happy with it.  What should you NOT do?

Moan and complain.  It's not forever!

What kind of food can students have in class?

Healthy snacks and water.

When can I sharpen my pencil?

You won't.  We have a Pencil Patrol who will take care of sharpening pencils and placing them in the pencil dispenser.

What do you do when the recess duty person blows the whistle for lunch?

You will walk quietly to you line and line up.  I'll be there to bring you into the lunchroom.  The lunch tubs will be there for you to grab.

Is there any place in our room that is "off limits?"

Yes, the teacher's desk area and the yellow chair.

What does a good working group look like?

They are sharing, helping, and encouraging others and getting your work or project done.

By listening to them, taking turns sharing, and using appropriate language and gestures.

We are quiet, in a line and will walk into the building together.

How should we sit at lunch?

The great news is that you can sit and eat anywhere!  We call it OPEN seating.  It's a privilege for ONLY 5th grade, but will be removed if you are not able to handle it.  USE your manners.

For the restroom, office or nurse.

You should look at the lights on the board to see what the noise level should be.
