What must you do if you have a question?
"Three before me." Ask at least three peers/scholars. If those peers cannot help, wait until the teacher is available for questions.

Conversation level- 2. Preferably a 1 if classes are in session.

Mrs. Austria
What days do we have Advisory and what is advisory for?
Wednesday and Friday. Advisory is meant to create a family or group you know you can turn to for support.
When can you go to the bathroom?
Before school, recess, and lunch time. If you must go during the class period, please wait until the independent work period has started. Use the SmartPass system. You donʻt need to ask.
What is our class routine?
1- Planners
2- Opening task (silent reading, grammar, etc.)
3- Independent or small group work
4- Exit ticket
Are you allowed to chew gum?
Nope. Due to the negligence of your peers- Henceforth, gum shall be banned in this space.
When a teacher is teaching our voices are at a level?
Zero
What is our online library called?

When will you have homework?
Never. UNLESS, you do not complete the task(s). Any unfinished classwork becomes hoemwork.
If your laptop is on your desk, where should any food or water be?
In your backpack, lunch bag, or off the table.
How do we treat guest/substitute teachers?
With respect and kindness.

What should you use to write with in class?
A pencil. We DO NOT use pen, marker, colored pencils, or crayons to write with- unless told by teacher.

How do you enter the classroom and begin your day?
Get your planner out and write down the agenda and/or learning objective. Wait for the TA to initial your planner before putting it away.
Can we eat in class?
Yes. However, this is a privilege. If Mrs. Kellogg notices trash being left behind, she will ban all food items in the classroom.
What should I do if Iʻm feeling overwhelmed/frustrated?
Quietly move to the "woods" and use one of the tools in the bins to recenter your focus

Quietly let the teacher know that you need a pass to see the counselor.

Quickly and quietly pack our backpacks, clean the area around your desk, and place chairs on the desks.
How does plain vanilla work?
1- Students write questions
2- Students vote on the highest level question. Each student gets two votes and can place them anywhere they want.
3- Students (and teacher) write an answer to the winning question and the author of that question begins the discussion.
What should I do if I have questions about classwork or homework?
See Mrs. Kellogg during recess, lunch, or afterschool. If I cannot meet with her during those times, I will send an email during her office hours (7:55 am- 2:55 pm).
Name one of the custodians and one security guard.

What is intellectual safety?
When we respect one another and we hold each other accountable (take responsibility) for our actions, we create a space in which all community (classmates) feel welcome.
