How do we walk in the hallways at East Ward Elementary School?

Quietly in two straight lines, one boys and one girls line.

100

Who is responsible for your behavior at lunch?

You are! You are responsible for yourself.

100

I need a pencil. What should I do?

Everyone will have the opportunity to get a pencil from our pencil parking that matches you number. If. you lose it, then you'll have to wait until the following week to get a new one.

I have 5 minutes on the timer, but I was too busy talking so now I'm not done.

This won't happen. Independent work time is not for talking it's for working. You'll always have enough time to do your work. If you don't finish in time your grades will reflect that.

100

Who should you ask when you don't understand something?

Depends.
Classtime/independent time: ask your teachers

Small group time: ask your classmates.

200
What do you need to have in your hand when you leave the classroom?

a hallpass

200

How should you stand in line?

Facing front, hands to side, no talking.

200

I have to go to the bathroom.

Raise your hand, ask the teacher, once the teacher says yes, you will sign out, then place the Duckie on your desk and take the hallpass and go.

200

Do I have to write my header every time?

YES... always YES. Name Date School Room number!

200

I have a cell phone.

I will be collecting cell phones everyday! No Exceptions.

300

There's a fire drill, what do we do?

Line up quietly, one line and listen to Mrs. Gafanhao for directions on what to do next.

300

Describe the correct way to walk back to class.

Students should walk quickly and quietly, in two  STRAIGHT lines.

300

My teacher is talking / teaching and I was busy having a conversation, what should I do.

stop your conversation, save it for later. Listen to the adult so you can do your best learning.

300

I forgot to put my name, now what?

Hope that Mrs. Gafanhao is feeling generous. -5 points for no name!

300

Mrs. Gafanhao is absent!

You continue to follow our classroom expectations no matter what. You get your work done and you show the adult in the room how great you are. Make me proud!

400

What time does school start?

8:15 am

400

We get to the cafeteria, now what?

Own lunch in the front of the line, school lunch in the back of the line.
400

I'm thirsty!

We have a hydration station. All bottles go into the hydration station. Ask for permission to go during class time. After lunch everyone will have 2 minutes for hydration station before continuing with work.

Mrs. Gafanhao told us to put our work away.

Do it neatly, Don't Just shove it into your desk. It is your work... be proud of it.

400

How do we leave the room at the end of the day?

Scan my area for garbage, desk, floor etc...and put any in the trash. Work put in folder and away, desks neat, chairs up and quietly standing behind my desk until we are called to line up.

500

What is the school motto?

respect, responsibility and perseverance

500

What should I do if another student is doing something I don't like or is annoying me during lunch?

Try to respectfully let the other student know and if it doesn't get better move away and let the teacher/ Mrs. Cantillo know.

500

It's too hard I don't want to do it anymore.

Nope, we don't give up in this class. Mrs. Gafanhao would rather see you try and get it wrong, rather than not try at all. Always do your best. We learn from the challenges.

500

Why do we have to work quietly.

To be able to focus and let other students focus. So the teacher can hear if students have questions and be able to help them.

500

My classmate hit me.

Tell an adult. Do not hit them back...that's not being responsible. The responsible thing to do it to tell the adult in the room... Our hands belong on no one but ourselves.
