What does a flameless heater do?

It heats up your food with a chemical reaction.

100

Where can you find the Do nows?

In Google classroom under the Do Now category.

100

What does the thermometer measure?

Its surroundings.

100

What is the process called when a plant makes its own energy? What is the name of that energy?

Photosynthesis- the plants create glucose as a source of energy.

100

How do you spell your science teachers last name and how do you pronounce it?

Capellan- the double l makes the y sound.

200

Can chemical reactions be used to design a solution to an emergency situation and how?

Yes, they can be used to create a FH which can heat up food when no gas or electricity is available.

200

What are the four main expectations/ norms of the classroom?

Respect, equitability, collaboration, and move science thinking forward.

200

What type of energy transfer is involved when the product increases in temperature?

Exothermic energy transfer.

200

Can mammals lay eggs?

No only oviparous animals can such as amphibians, fish, birds etc.

200

Who sings the song "Baby, baby, baby ohhhh"?

Justin Bieber DUH :p

300

What are the reactants that we use in the FH design?

Root killer, Aluminum foil, and saltwater.

300

Give three examples from the respect expectation.

One voice, follow class rules, pay attention, safe language, hands to yourself, be polite/kind, do not disrupt

300

What type of energy transfer is involved when the temperature of the product decreases in temperature?

Endothermic energy transfer

300

Why do we plan for experiments?

To efficiently use our time with less mistakes and to have clear goal/vision of what we want.

300

What is Kendrick Llamars diss track against drake called?

Not like us
400

What temperature does the food need to reach to be sure it is safe to consume?

To be considered safer the foods temperature must be above 135 degrees Fahrenheit which is 136 degrees Fahrenheit

400

What are the three things that is expected when you come into my classroom?

Come in quietly, sit at your assigned seats, and begin the do now.

400

What is it called when the thermal energy (heat) ENTERS the reaction system?

An endothermic reaction. Heat leaves the surroundings enters into the reactions system, which makes its surrounding colder

400

What is the biggest living creature on Earth?

The blue whale.

400

Finish the sentence (it's a child song): I like to eat, eat, eat ______ and ________.

Apples and bananas

500

Can you explain why the temperature is different in both images?

With one reactant all heat produced is transferring to the food, increasing the foods temperature only by the amount of reactants (by 1x).

With two reactant systems we have double the heat going into one food source which increases the food temperature more (by 2x) which is the reason it has higher temp that just one reactant.

500

At the end of every lesson what are you supposed to fill out?

Your progress tracker.

500

What is it called when thermal energy (heat) EXITS the reaction system?

Exothermic reaction. Heat leaves the reaction and the surroundings become warmer.

500

Do you weigh more, less, or the same weight if you are on Earth compared to the moon?

You weigh less on the moon due to decreased gravitational pull

500

Does tea have caffeine in it?

Yes, not as much as coffee but teas do have caffeine although there are a few that don't have caffeine but most do.
