Atom
Smallest Unit of matter retaining element properties.
Isotope
Atoms with the same protons but different neutrons. (another version of something)
Covalent bond
When an electron from each atom is attracted to the protons of the other atoms.
What subatomic particles give an atom mass?
Protons and Neutrons give an atom mass. I know this because it is located in the center of the nucleus. It provides most of the atoms with electrons contributing negligibly because they are much lighter, each being about 1/2000th the mass of a proton or neutron. The combined count of protons and neutrons determines an atom's mass number. This is why Protons and Neutrons give an atom mass.
What is the mass number of an atom with 5 protons and 7 neutrons?
12
Atomic Number
Number of protons in the nucleus
Sum of protons and neutrons in an atom
Hydrogen Bond
Weak bond formed when opposite charges attract
Which subatomic particles determines ionization?
Electrons are the subatomic particles that determine ionization. I know this because ionization is the process of an atom gaining or losing these negatively charged particles, creating a charged ion. While protons define the element, it's the electron's movement gaining or losing them—that changes the atom's charge, influencing chemical behavior and forming ions. This is why electrons are the subatomic particles that determine ionization.

How many neutrons are in an atom of Mg-25?
13
What subatomic particles determines whether or not an atom is stable?
The neutron determines whether or not the atom is stable. I know this because it creates a balance between protons and electrons. If you were to have 2 protons by itself it would be unstable/unvalid, but if you add a neutron it becomes a stable atom. This is why a neutron determines whether or not the atom is stable.
