Matter can change in many different ways. It can be mixed with other matter. It can also be heated or cooled. Sometimes heating or cooling causes matter to change state.
When matter changes, it can look or feel different. But the total amount of matter stays the same. The materials before a change have the same total mass as the materials after the change. This law is called conservation of matter.
