How many steps are in the scientific method.
6 steps
What tool measures temperature?
A thermometer
How many steps are in the water cycle? What are they?
4 steps.
1) precipitation
2) collection
3) evaporation
4) condensation
Why are clouds so important?
They are part of the water cycle and are needed for precipitation.
What is a scientist that studies weather called?
A meteorologist
What is the scientific method?
the set of steps scientists use to find answers to their questions.
What tool measures wind direction?
Weather vane
What are the different forms of precipitation that can come down from the atmosphere?
Rain
Sleet
Hail
Snow
How are clouds made (be specific)?
The water vapor cools down in the atmosphere and forms tiny water droplets that form clouds.
What is the definition of Uv-index?
The measurement of how strong or weak the sun's rays are.
What is an observation?
using your 5 senses to take notice of something.
What tool measures humidity?
Hygrometer
What is the definition of collection?
The location where water droplets that fall from the atmosphere run off to.
What type of cloud is puffy and has a flat base?
Cumulus cloud
What is the definition of temperature?
The measurement of how hot or cold something is.
What is a hypothesis?
making an educated guess.
What tool measures wind speed?
Anemometer
What is the definition of condensation?
The cooling of water in the atmosphere turning into clouds.
What type of cloud is greyish and covers the entire sky?
Stratus clouds
What happens when there is low air pressure?
Low air pressure means precipitation
What are the 6 steps of the scientific method? ( In order)
1. Observation
2. Question
3. Hypothesis
4. Experiment
5.Conclusions
6. report results
What does a barometer measure?
Air pressure
In your own words explain the water cycle?
Precipitation comes down and collects in the streams, oceans, and rivers. The sun then evaporates the water into water vapor. When the vapor goes into the atmosphere and cools down it condenses into clouds.
What type of cloud is thin, wispy and are considered "high clouds"?
Cirrus clouds
What is wind speed and wind direction?
Wind Speed is the measurement of how fast or slow the wind is moving.
Wind direction is the direction the wind is moving towards.
