An interconnected set of food chains

What is food webs

100

Mixture of sand, silt, clay, rock, and humus (plant and animal remains)

What is soil

100

When the well being of two or more things are linked together.

What is interdependence

The river water from the _____caused the rocks from the _____to erode and form a canyon.

What is Hydrosphere and Geosphere

200

The food of almost any type of organism can be traced to –

What is the sun

200

Actions by one thing that has an effect on a different or separate thing?

What is interaction

200

What uses only nonliving things to make its own food?

What is producer

200

Features on the surface of the Earth, such as mountains, hills, dunes, oceans or rivers

What is Landforms

300

What are decomposers? How do they “recycle” matter?

Decomposers are bacteria and fungi that break down the matter of dead plants and animals. They return some of their nutrients to the soil. They recycle matter by putting these nutrients into the soil where plants grow. Consumers eat these plants and use that energy to fuel their bodies. This cycle is always occurring and matter is always being recycled.

300

Liquid water is moved from living things to the environment when animals -

What is urinate

300

All of the living and nonliving things and all of the interactions in an area

What is an ecosystem

300

Sand or small pieces of rock broken down by weathering and deposited on the land or at the bottom of a body of water

What is Sediments

400

Give an example of a food web?

What is sun-producer-consumer-decomposer

400

Describe how decomposers enrich soil and help other organisms survive.

Decomposers break down dead plants and animals. They return some of their elements and water to the soil, which helps plants grow.

400

Explain ways in which you meet your needs to survive and thrive.

What is Shelter food and water

400

How does the ocean influence climate?

What is Water evaporates from the ocean into the atmosphere, which can affect the climate of an area. The temperature of the ocean water can also affect the climate in an area. Ocean currents can move warm or cold water to other areas of Earth.

500

How are organisms in a food web dependent on each other?

What is Producers make their own food from air, water and energy from the Sun. Consumers eat the producers or other consumers to get their energy. Consumers could not survive without producers.

500

Explain the cycle of matter as organisms take in materials from their environment and return materials to their environment.

Organisms take in materials such as food, water, and air. They release what their body doesn’t use as waste back to the environment. When they die, they decompose and their matter returns to the environment

500

Explain why some organisms only live in certain environments.

All organisms have basic needs that need to be met in order for them to survive. Organisms can only survive in certain environments where their needs are met

500

Earth systems can interact quickly or over long periods of time. Give an example of how Earth can change quickly and an example of how it changes slowly. Describe how Earth’s systems interact in these changes.

What is volcanic eruption or erosion
