What processes on Earth can change the shape of the land? Which cause a gradual change, and which cause a sudden change?
What are landslides, earthquakes, volcanoes.
100
The process an animal or plant goes through from birth or seedling, to young animal or plant, to adult is known as the _______________?
What is the life cycle.
100
Why is it important to conduct an experiment more than one time?
It is important because you might get different results. Also, your results may be incorrect so doing it more than once ensures your answers/findings are accurate.
100
What tool is used to see things up close? A magnifying glass A beaker A compass
What is a magnifying glass
200
Name the 3 parts of a circuit we talked about in class. In that circuit we built: A closed circuit is (complete/incomplete) and an open circuit is (complete/incomplete).
Light bulb, battery, wire. What is complete circuit, incomplete circuit.
200
With regards to the earth, sun, and moon, what does it mean to rotate? What does it mean to revolve?
Rotate - to spin around Revolve - to move around another object What does the earth spin on?
200
What do all living things need to live?
What is air, water, food (and sunlight for plants)
200
An educated guess is called a _________________.
What is a hypothesis.

Timmy wants to measure the volume of water it takes to fill a fish tank. What tool would Timmy use? A cup A graduated cylinder A thermometer
What is a graduated cylinder
300
How is heat energy transferred (or, in what direction does heat energy move)?
What is from the warmest object to the coldest object.
300
Define weathering, erosion, and deposition.
Weathering: The breaking apart, wearing away, or dissolving of rock. Erosion: The picking up and moving of sediments to a new place. Deposition: The laying down of sediment and rock in a new place.
300
What is a trait called that is passed from parent to child (or adult plant to young plant).
What is inherited trait.
300
While conducting an experiment, you record your data. What do you do with the data? Why is recording data important?
You analyze your data, make it into a chart/graph if needed, and form a conclusion. It's important to record your data because others can replicate your experiment, or they can see what you've done.

Olivia is going for a walk in the woods. She will need to take a map, as well as a: Stopwatch Compass Thermometer
What is a compass
400
What is the definition of energy?
What is the ability to do work or cause change.
400
What are the series of changes the moon goes through, and about how long does it take?
What is moon phases. It takes about 1 month (28 days).
400
What is the difference between a producer and a consumer? What is the difference between an omnivore, carnivore, and herbivore?
What is a producer can make its own food, a consumer has to rely on other plants or animals for food. Omnivore - eats both plants and meat Carnivore - meat only Herbivore - plants only
400
What is the first step of the scientific method?
What is make an observation/ask a question.
400
What tool is used to measure how hot or cold something is? A thermometer A magnifying glass A compass
What is a thermometer
500
What are the three types of heat energy?
What is conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction - heat transfer by direct contact through a solid. Convection - heat transfer through liquid. Radiation - heat transfer through air, or radiating off an object.
500
What is the difference between a renewable and nonrenewable resource? Give an example of each. What is a natural resource? Give an example.
Renewable resource: Something that is continually being replaced. Nonreneable resource: Something that cannot be replaced quickly enough, so it will run out. Natural resource: Something that are found on earth.
500
What is a Adaptation? Inherited trait/behavior? Acquired trait/behavior?
Adaptation - a feature that enables a living thing to survive in its environment. Inherited trait/behavior - traits or behaviors that are passed on from the parent Acquired trait/behavior - A trait or behavior acquired due to the environment

Johnny wanted to determine the effect of water on plant growth. To do this, he planted 2 flowers in a pot with the same amount of water. He put Plant A in the window near the sun, and Plant B in the closet so it received no sunlight. Then he watered Plant A twice a day, and Plant B three times a day. Why is this not a fair experiment?
This is not a fair experiment because you are changing 2 variables - the amount of sunlight and the amount of water. You don't know if the sunlight or the water is having the effect on the plant. What would Johnny have to do to make this a fair experiment?
500
Why is it important to use the correct scientific tool?
What is so you get accurate measurements and accurate data.
