What is an electric circuit?

An electric circuit is a closed path through where electric current flows

100

What is the filtration?

Filtration is the process of filtering the water using a filter paper.

100

Explain transparent in a short sentence..

It is where light can pass through and we can see through it

100

Why do we need water?

To bathe, to survive, to drink, to cook, to brush, for animals and plants

100

How many poles does a magnet have?

2

200

What are the 2 types of electric circuits?

Open and closed circuit

200

How can you separate salt from water

Evaporation

200

What are the 3 types of transparency?

Opaque, transluscent and transparent

200

What is transpiration?

The exhalation of water vapour through the stomata.

Artificial magnets are made in different shapes such as __________, __________ and ____________.

Bar, horseshoe and cylinder

300

How many terminals are there in an electric cell

300

What is winnowing? Where is it used?

he method of separating the components from a mixture. In this method, heavier and lighter components of a mixture are separated by wind or by blowing air. This method is used to separate grains from husk.

300

Name five objects which can be made from wood.

Just in case anything goes wrong:-

a) Table

b) Chair

c) Doors

d) Desk

e) Box

Take out a cooled bottle of water from the refrigerator and keep it on a table. After some time you notice droplets of water around it. Why?

Because the surface of the air around the bottle cool down and air condenses around the bottle.

300

Write any two properties of a magnet.

  • It attracts objects made of Nickel, Cobalt and Iron.
  • Magnet directs the side in north and south direction.
400

How will you separate husk or dirt particles from a given sample of pulses before cooking?

Husk and dirt particles are separated from pulses by handpicking.

400

Select those objects from the following which shine: Glass bowl, plastic toy, steel spoon, cotton shirt

Glass bowl, steel spoon

400

How are clouds formed?

The process of condensation plays an important role in bringing water back to the surface of the earth. As we go higher from the surface of the earth, it gets cooler. When the air moves up, it gets cooler and cooler. At sufficient heights, the air becomes so cool that the water vapor present in it condenses to form tiny drops of water called droplets. It is these tiny droplets that remain floating in the air and appear to us like clouds.

400

How is a compass used to find directions?

A compass always shows north and south direction, by keeping this as a reference we can always find east and west directions also.

500

Why do electricians use rubber gloves while repairing switches?

Electricians use rubber gloves while repairing switches because, rubber is an insulator. Insulators don't allow electricity to pass through them.

500

Sedimentation

Decantation

Filtration

Boiling ( Just to purify the water fully )

You are given an iron strip. How will you make it into a magnet?

Take a bar magnet and keep in contact with one of its poles with one edge of the bar of iron.

  • Without lifting the bar magnet, move it along the length of the iron bar till you reach the other end.
  • Lift the magnet and bring the pole (the same pole you started with) to the same point of the iron bar from which we began.
  • Move the magnet again along the iron bar in the same direction as you did before.
  • Repeat this process for about 30-40 times.
