What is light?
Light is a form of energy that enables us to see. Our eyes have to receive light in order for us to see.
Materials that do not allow light to pass through are called opaque materials. Example: Wood
How many days does the earth take place to complete a spin?
The Earth takes 24 hours or one day to complete a spin.
Why are we able to see the light sources?
We can see light sources because light travels from the light sources and enters our eyes.
What is a shadow?
A shadow is an area of darkness formed when light is totally or partially blocked.
What makes up the solar system?
The solar system is made up of the Sun, together with the planets and other objects in space that orbit the Sun.
What is reflection of light?
The reflection of light is the bouncing of light off a surface. When light is reflected, its direction changes.
Why Are Shadows Formed?
Light travels in straight lines.
When something opaque (like your hand or a tree) blocks the light, it can't pass through.
How many planets orbit the Sun? What are their names?
There are 8 planets that orbit the Sun.
Planets in Order from the Sun:
Mercury
Venus
Earth
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Neptune
What is a light ray?
The path in which light travel is called a light ray.
All objects are not formed shadows? Why?
Not all the objects form the shadows. It depends on the materials an object made of.
How can we observe, study and to explore space? Give examples
We can observe, study and explore place with the help of instruments and machines. Examples are binoculars, telescopes, artificial satellites, spaces probes, rovers and spacecraft.
How do we measure light intensity?
We can use a light meter or a light sensor that is connected to a data logger to measure light intensity. Light intensity is measured in the unit lux.
How do shadows change?
Shadows change in size, shape, and direction depending on the position of the light and object.
There are billions of stars beyond solar system.
