Gradual increase of the world’s overall temperature – caused by greenhouse gases in atmosphere

Global Warming.

100

What kind of rock is needed for a aquifer to form? Explain why.

(DONT THINK ABOUT ANY ROCK IN THE ROCK CYCLE)

Permeable Rock,

Permeable Rock has the ability to let eater seek through its cracks so that the water can enter the aquifer.

What's the difference between a city that is warned or alerted about a potential a natural disaster AND a city that is not aware or warned of a in coming natural disaster?

The city that is warned/alerted has the chance to prepare or evacuate, which will prevent a lot of deaths and damages.

The city that is not warned or alerted will have more deaths and damages because they wont see the disaster coming. They will be hit off guard.

100

After we use it all, we can grow or mined more. What is this?

Renewable Resource

100

Once we use it all, its gone! We wont be able to get more of it IN OUR LIFE TIME because it takes millions of years to form.

Non-Renewable Resource.

200

A threat of a naturally occurring event that will have a negative effect on humans

Natural Hazard

200

The earth is getting hotter and hotter due to Global Warming, what are two effect will this have on the ocean and its organism? (HINT: Ice, reefs)

Ocean levels will rise due to the ice melting.

Reefs will begin to bleach (mold)

200

Louisiana population is shrinking at a intense rate.

What effect will that have on Louisiana water supply?

The shrinking populations in Louisiana will cause Louisiana’s water supply to NOT be used at an increasing rate. Therefore Louisiana will preserve a lot of its water.

200

The top of it has a entry and exit but the one under it doesn't. Matter of fact, to get to the one at the bottom we must first collapse the one above it. What are these?

Unconfined Aquifers

Confined Aquifers

200

a threat of a naturally occurring event will have a negative effect on humans

Natural Hazard

300

Resources that take millions of years to be made – cannot be replaced in our lifetime

Non-Renewable Resource

300
If water is evaporated over time in the ocean, what is the effect of this in the ocean?

Sea Levels/ Ocean Levels will decrease.

300

If there is no salt water and instead is fresh water in the southern part of Texas, what can we predict about the water in the aquifers?

The aquifers are filled with fresh water as well.

300

when the hazardous threat actually happens and harms humans

Natural Disaster

300

the trapping of heat inside the atmosphere

Global Warming

400

Non-renewable source of energy made from dead plants and animals from millions of years ago

Fossil Fuels

400

Which kind of rock can most likely found is New Orleans? Why?

Sedimentary Rock because New Orleans is surrounded by a lot of water and Sedimentary Rocks need water to help it form.

400

Louisiana population is growing at a intense rate.

What effect will that have on Louisiana water supply?

Growing populations in Louisiana will cause Louisiana’s water supply to be used at an increasing rate. This may cause the water/aquifers to empty at a increasing rate.

400

What will cause the 6th Mass Extinction. How?

Humans. We are increasing the amount of CO2 that goes into the atmosphere.

400

What are the difference between a permeable rock and non permeable rock?

Permeable rocks have cracks/space in between that allows water to enter.

Non Permeable rocks doesn't have cracks/space. These rocks are more solidified so that water cannot enter.

500

Mathematical models used to predict the path, strength and impact of hurricanes before they make landfall

Hurricane Prediction Model

500

If there is no fresh water and instead is salt water in the southern part of Texas, what can we predict about the water in the aquifers?

The aquifers are filled with salt water as well.

500

How have new advancements in technology helped people living in natural disaster zones like tornado, hurricanes, and even earthquakes?

It gives people more warnings and prevents fewer deaths and damages.

500

What kind of rock is a great example of a non permeable rock?

igneous rock

500

What effect does global warming have on hurricanes?

Global warming is the earth heating up. If the earth heats up, that mean the water is warmer/hotter. Hurricanes are formed by warm/hot ocean waters. This causes more evaporation in our oceans. Which causes more rain and a more dramatic water cycle thru convection. So the more global warming = more or stronger hurricanes.
