**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

What part of C.E.R is being defined?

The scientific data to support the claim. Concrete.

Evidence

2000

WHEN is Ms. Marcus getting Married?

OCT 14.

What three words must a hypothesis have?

If...Then...Because

Who is this?!?!

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

Quantitative data is data involving mainly....

Numbers or Words?

NUMBERS

3000

Put the scrambled up C.E.R in order.

Part A: To start, we see the dog swimming, running, and pulling weights on a mat.

Part B: The dog is trying to loose weight.

Part C: Exercising, like swimming or running, is an important part of staying a healthy weight.

Part B, Part A, Part C.

3000

TRUE or FALSE: Scientist record all the materials they have available to them when completing step 5 of the scientific method.

FALSE
3000

What is step 2 of the scientific method?

Ask questions OR define a problem

3000

Please tell me what is in your table of contents so far? Be specific with page numbers.

Notes (Steps 1 - 5) is on page 1

Step 6 - Data is on page 2

Step 7 - C.E.R is on page 3.

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

Which below is an example of QUANTITATIVE data? How do you know?

A.) Models

B.) Tests

C.) Scientific Sketching

B.) Test

Because quantitative data involves numbers. Tests give us data as a number score. 98% is an example. or 10/12.

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

Define Reasoning from C.E.R

Reasoning: Explains "How" or "why" the evidence supports the claim.

4000

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

What word is a synonym for VALID? Think....

ACCURATE

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

How do Scientists complete STEP 3?

1.) List Questions 2.) Search for answers 3.) Analyze your findings.

4000

What is a synonym for RELIABLE data? Think...

CONSISTENT

4000

What type of data did you collect when you as a class went around and collected data on Favorite subject, Season, pet, and fast food?

How do you know?

Quantitative. Tally chart are numbers and data with numbers is quantitative.

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

Which below is the EVIDENCE? How do you know?

Option ONE: When the dog overheard the woman ask her husband if he saw the cat, the dog bribed the man with Doritos again. Almost as a reminder of the deal they made - his silence for Doritos.

Option TWO: When the woman asks the man if he has seen the cat, the dog is standing there with Doritos

Option TWO is evidence because is the concrete scientific data.

5000

Define Procedure.

The sequential steps you will take to find your solution.

5000

You have 5 minutes for the below task

As a team, write a hypothesis for the below experiment.

Q: What drinking source ( Water, Gatorade, Soda) makes a plant grow fastest?

If you give a plant (water/ Gatorade/ Soda) as a drinking source, then it will grow faster because

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

Tell me TWO pieces of Quantitative data. Then tell me TWO pieces of Quantitative data.

Qualitative- None of the dogs have leashes on. There are small and large dogs

Quantitative: There are 4 dogs on the grass. There are 7 people standing.

**DOUBLE JEOPARDY**

What are the A, B, C, D, E's of Qualitative Data?

Accurate

BIG

Colorful

Detailed

Explained

6000

Write a mini C.E.R for the below question. You only need one piece of evidence and reasoning.

Q: Does Ms.Marcus like ear piercings?

C: Yes, Ms. Marcus likes ear piercings?

E: Ms. Marcus has 12 piercings.

R: I know that people who like something tend to participate in that repeatedly.

6000

Step 7 is _______ which we do through C.E.R

Share Results.

6000

List the steps of the scientific method in order.

1.)Observe

2.) Ask questions/define a problem

3.) Research

4.) Hypothesis

5.) create your experiment

6.) record/analyze data

7.)share your results (C.E.R)

6000

What is a Hypothesis?

What you predict is going to occur in your experiment. An educated Guess.

6000
Is the below data VALID and/Or RELIABLE? EXPLAIN HOW YOU KNOW.

NO! The data is NOT VALID because the data they collected had nothing to do with the purpose of their experiment. They wanted to know what color children wore, but the data is on children's favorite color.

YES! It IS reliable. The data is consistent from scientist to scientist. Therefore the favorite color is reliable data.
