WILD
100
This is the factor in an experiment that the scientist changes on purpose.
What is the independent variable?
100
The first step in the scientific method.
What is the purpose, question or problem?
100

Sharing your results at the Science Fair

What is reporting results?

100

The process scientists follow to complete an investigation

What is the scientific method?

200
This is any variable that the scientist keeps the same in all groups.
What is a constant?
200
The third step in the scientific method when the scientist makes an educated guess at the answer to his/her research question.
What is the hypothesis?
200

Does an electric motor turn faster if you increase the current?

What is a testable question?

200

Any information learned during the experiment.

What is an observation?

300

The factor that is observed by the scientist for change while conducting an experiment.

What is the dependent variable?

300
The second step in the scientific method and is required before moving on to the third step. It involves gathering information about your topic.
What is research?
300

If ultraviolet light can damage the eyes, then I think this light can cause blindness because in my research I learned that corneal damage is an effect from UV exposure.

What is hypothesis?

300

This is what you think will happen and is based in your research.

What is the hypothesis?

400

This would be the independent variable in the following research question. Does getting more sleep help to improve students grades in Mrs. Lebeda's class?

What is amount of sleep?

400

This is almost the final step in the scientific method and must be based on the data collected during your experiment.

What is the conclusion?

400

This is a list of detailed steps a scientist writes out and follows during an experiment.

What is a procedure?

400

This is the number of independent variables in a well designed experiment.

What is one?

500

These are two things you would have to keep constant when testing the following hypothesis: If students get more sleep then their grades will go up in Mrs. Lebeda's class.

What are ____________ and ____________? Age of students, test, teacher, time of test, diet Any variable EXCEPT grades and amount of sleep.

500
This is the step where you will most likely have a table and/or graph.
What is data analysis?
500

Roses stay fresh for 3.5 days on average with no sugar added, 6.5 days with 5 g of sugar added, and 8.5 days with 10 g of sugar added.  Therefore, as sugar content increased, so did the freshness of the roses.  This experimental result is likely because the added sugar was absorbed by cells in the stems and moved up the plant, providing food for all rose cells.

What is data analysis?

500

A reliable experiment should be able to be repeated/replicated an give the _____ result.

What is the same/similar result?
