What is ARIEL SHOT?
What is a PAN?
A change of scene over the course of one frame
What is a CUT TO?
Something or someone comes into the picture while the camera stays put
What is INTO VIEW?
A written work by screenwriters for a film, video game, or television program
What is a SCRIPT?
A camera angle zoomed in very close to an object
What is CLOSE-UP?
A shot that moves in for a new angle nearer to the subject (more of an editing term, but can be mentioned in the screenplay when necessary)
What is a CLOSER ANGLE?
A gradual change of scene that fades directly from one scene to the next
What is DISSOLVE?
Indicates a brief pause in the middle of a character's line (Interchangeable with ellipses)
What is a BEAT?
The people in the film (The first time their name is introduced in an action, it is written in all caps)
What are CHARACTERS?
A camera angle zoomed out very far away from an object
What is a LONG SHOT?
A camera movement in which the camera physically moves toward a subject
What is a PUSH IN?
Abchange of scene that fades slowly through a black screen to the next scene
What is a CROSSFADE?
Adjectives enclosed in parentheses used to describe how a line should be delivered (if that delivery is somehow contrary to logic)
What are PARENTHETICALS?
The words the actors are supposed to say according to the script
What is DIALOGUE?
A camera angle rotated 180 degrees from the previous shot to get a shot from the "other side" of a scene
What is REVERSE ANGLE/
A shot that involves a camera following a person or an object
What is a TRACKING SHOT?
Transition whereby the action cuts between two action scenes to suggest that the action is happening at the same time
What is a CROSS-CUT?
Dialogue voiced over a scene in which the character's lips moving are not present in the scene
What is a VOICE OVER?
A descriptive term for how one scene 'transitions' to another scene (Used appropriately, these can be used to convey shifts in character development and emotion)
What is a TRANSITION?
Footage of events in history, from other films, etc. (Basically, anything that's already filmed and you intend to be edited into the movie)
What is a STOCK SHOT?
A quick snap of the camera from one object to another, causing the camera to blur
What is a SWISH PAN?
A transition in which one scene "wipes away" for the next
What is a WIPE TO?
A direction that describes a voice that is heard from somewhere unseen
What is OFF CAMERA/OFF SCREEN?
Text at the beginning of a scene that briefly describes the location and time of day
