How does solar angle affect seasons?
Areas of the earth where the sun shines directly down are subjected to more intense energy than areas that experience beam spreading. The greater the amount of energy absorbed, the hotter that area becomes - this is why the hottest part of the earth is near the equator, and the hottest time of day is around noon when the sun is directly overhead. Also, during the summer months the earth receives more direct sunlight, leading to hotter temperatures while there is a lower solar angle during the winter, leading to colder temperatures.
