Listening is one of the skills to be acquired in a foreign language, which has a strong relation with what we hear and what we decode and make sense of. We hear something that academically we call “input”, and this input can go from conversations in the target language, chatting, radio extracts, videos, songs, and anything.

What is the difference between transactional and interactional conversation? 

Transactional conversations are those related to transactions. For example, when a person needs a train ticket.

Interactional conversations are when friends get together and chat, the conversations can go to any topic, making them less predictable.
